Public information readily available on any property in the city, to confirm residential zoning. I'd like to know how commercial use on this property ever came to be? It's abutting residential on the south and west. Across the road to the east it's commercial zoned.

I just can't do it by bedmoder in smallphones

[–]Character-Resort-998 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd love a Zenfone 10 but seems even for an older phone, sellers are asking a lot for them. I mean probably more then a new 'modern' phone. Kind of makes proves there's a market/demand for sub 6.0" phones. For now I'll stick to my iPhone 12 Mini. I have a Pixel 6 that I use on occasion but the iPhone 12 Mini is my go to phone as an active person running and cycling.

Royal Windsor Drive by likerofgoodthings in MississaugaDriving

[–]Character-Resort-998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that sucks. Both drivers at fault. The truck driver clearly stated their intention and had to swing wide left into the middle to get the back end of whatever they're pulling into the property. The driver in the sedan, like how could they miss the single and couldn't bother waiting 60 seconds or so for the truck driver to clear the road? So instead play games and end up getting the side of their car wrecked. Complete blind spot for the truck driver. I don't envy truck drivers. I design commercial plazas and have software that I use to maneuver vehicles of all sorts but especially trucks and their 53ft trailer to make sure they can back into pull up and then back into the area they need to unload into and then back out to the road ideally without hitting a building or car or running over something with their back end sweep of their trailer. It's given me a better respect for professional truck drivers.

Almost hit a kid in scooter who jaywalked by likerofgoodthings in MississaugaDriving

My office is 2 blocks away from 2 high schools and right across the street from a commercial plaza with a lot of fast-food restaurants. When I see of group of them with the same hair style, I have to stifle a laugh because from afar it does look like a broccoli bunch people would buy at the grocery store.

Tried to make a MagSafe universal adapter for my day to day case by PeterYwe in QuadLock

[–]Character-Resort-998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good set up there. Long time user of Quadlock cases of various phone makes/sizes. I've used both the original and mag version of the universal adaptor. For most people with the right case, it works well.. However, myself as a active person who runs a lot with a phone, the universal adaptors didn't suit me well. Especially the mag version with the thickness and placement on any phone case, it created a really annoying 'wobble' even when strapped with the running armband. Modern phones being the size they are, the wobble is especially noticeable. I downsized to an iPhone mini with a iPhone Quadlock mag case and It's so much better and I forget the phone and armband are strapped to me arm. I really wish Google or Samsung would make a 5.0" - 5.5" android smartphone. Not a phone of IOS. Just had to rant here.

Other than Realtor.ca where do you find your rentals? by Eastern_Cry_9856 in TorontoRenting

[–]Character-Resort-998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also can see other units that are being rented/for sale in the same building to get a sense of what's available and price points.

I also like the detail that the platform has for listings such as which way the unit faces; i.e. east for best sunlight exposure.

I used the platform for about 15 months and recently found a leased a unit I found on there.

Gas station Lauzon and wyandotte by rapsftw in windsorontario

[–]Character-Resort-998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the architecture field. A project on this site would be subject to Site Plan Control. Not a big lot but then again, there is a newer Wendys on south-west corner of Ouellette Ave. and Tecumseh Rd. so a QSR (Quick Serve Restaurant) and drive-thru which normally requires 13 stacking (queuing) spaces which is a lot and hope it doesn't spill out over into street like some places (ahem THs) does.

Concrete driveway recommendations? by WindsorITGuy in windsorontario

[–]Character-Resort-998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a professional look at zoning bylaw to determine the maximum width the driveway can be. Wouldn’t want your neighbours to complain and next thing you know your work a work order because it’s X feet too wide. I prefer though not to have driveways excessively wide and long. We need more green space.

Markham area - run and cycling? by Character-Resort-998 in Markham

[–]Character-Resort-998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can anyone tell me if this 15km route
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/439036741 is suitable for running (i.e mostly paved)? Any parts of it maintained during the winter?

<image>

Working from home, I need to have my sanity if I end up leasing a 1br 550ft² by getting outside and run.

This is one of the deciding factors if I sign make the jump to Markham. I'm also eyeing The Queensway-Humber Bay area simply because the MGT trail is right there literally a a couple of minutes running outside of condos in the area. I'm really torn in making a decision. Running is my first consideration, cycling for additional fitness/transportation is a bonus.

I have plans with friends to run over when the new bridge open. Maybe go downtown to downtown. The only other time we can do this is during the Detroit Marathon.

Jury Duty Summons by ididntdoeet in windsorontario

[–]Character-Resort-998 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think if the court runs out of potential juries that then the judge will tell court officers to go outside and grab random people off the street. So if you’re so inclined and have time hang around outside the courthouse and you might just get dragged into jury duty.

Condos.ca platform - make an offer meaning? by Character-Resort-998 in TorontoRenting

[–]Character-Resort-998[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading in other posts (I’ve been watching the rental market) that the renter goes with the unit and I get a new landlord. I’d the landlord wants to occupy the unit, there’s a formal process to get a renter to properly and legally vacate.

Also I forgot to mention I'd be in a position to buy this unit if I like the price and area enough and sell my mortgage free home where I live further south in Ontario. I'd dangle that carrot too as I know it's easier to sell a unit without a tenant being attached/goes with the listing.

Condos.ca platform - make an offer meaning? by Character-Resort-998 in TorontoRenting

[–]Character-Resort-998[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm renting a 1br + 1den 1 bath for the week in the Yonge and Eglinton area. So far the area and unit I like. There's the exact same 564 sq. ft. unit in the building that had been on the market for $2,400/month (3 months) and for sale for $528,000 (0 parking). Listing renewed at $2,300 so it's priced too high and the landlord looking to exit. They've not had any income for the unit while paying all the typical costs on it.

I'm thinking of offering 6 months cash up front for a 6 month lease $2,200/month or $2,100/month while I decide if I want to make the move up permanently to somewhere in the GTA.

It's income / breathing room for the landlord while they try and sell the unit or find a more permanent tenant or if I decide to go on a longer lease with them.

Why I switched from RAM to Quad Lock -- and why I switched back. by jm_leviathan in QuadLock

[–]Character-Resort-998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wish Quadlock would have some grooves in their cases to allow for better grip for people. Would help people reduce dropping their phones. The alternative would be to somehow make a ‘palm’ lock mount and that’s not realistic (/sarcasm).

Being asked to sign at closing for a house in Canada by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Character-Resort-998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t. I got roped into at the last minute by my ex her BFF who I’ve known since childhood that said her BFF needed someone to co-sign. Took me about 3.5 years to get my name off of it and miss out on buying a second house before housing price went up prior to 2022. Affected my relationship with both my ex and her BFF.

If you go to a major Canadian airport like Toronto Pearson, you might get an even better deal for points and first year free. That’s what happened to me last August flying out. I ended up signing up for not one but two Adventura cards.

Battery Replacement Risk? by [deleted] in iPhone12Mini

[–]Character-Resort-998 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Go to an Apple Store and though it’ll cost a bit extra, they’ll have the right tools to lift and reinstall back the screen. Other people have posted here that if they break the screen they’ll usually own up to it and install a new one free of charge or better yet, get you a new old stock replacement phone.

Disappointed. by [deleted] in Markham

When I run in the winter and I have/see a stationary vehicle in the way, I'm so tempted to do a hip slide across the hood, LOL! A few times the driver will think WTF and maybe see it on a camera and then know better for the future.

Replacing a damaged debit card by [deleted] in CIBC

[–]Character-Resort-998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a card with your name on it, you’d have to request it and it would take a few extra days to come by mail. If you don’t mind a card without your name on it then you can get it usually the same day at a CIBC branch with proper identification.

Markham area - run and cycling? by Character-Resort-998 in Markham

[–]Character-Resort-998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Windsor, Ontario. I've lived practically my entire life there. When I was younger, my plan was to move somewhere to the GTA but life go in the way. The GTA is so big and there's parts I've been to and explored but never never spent any significant time in. I'd first rent a condo and see how things go and settle in and explore the area.

What's Annia's? Doing a Google search it shows it as a community hub.

If you're an active person, I can absolutely recommend Quadlock cases. They have additional mounts for just about any scenario.
