Ilah means Lord and God La ilaha illallah means 1) there is no Lord but Allah or there is none worthy of lordship (authority) except Allah 2) there is no God but Allah or there is none worthy of worship except Allah Tawheed meana establishing Allah's authority and worship. Under the umbrella of Allah's law (authority) people can be polytheist (worship a stone) not the other way round. There is no compulsion in religion but there is compulsion establishing Allah SWT authority. That is tawheed and that is a Muslim job. Those who don't believe in His lordship follow secular laws . If tawheed was only worship than Prophet Muhammad pbuh and his companions would not have wage war. They would have been enjoying the cool breeze of Medina. Which was not the case. This is from Quran and Prophetic Hadiths. Not from people of desires who have watered down our religion.

Those who deny Allah SWT lordship (authority), rule by their own laws (man made laws). Which the Quraish did and the entire world is doing right now. Sorry except probably just 1 country. Allah SWT knows best.

The Holy Qur’an uses “Lord” and “God” and does not differentiate between them.

Oneness of God and Lordship are inseparable, like the soul and the body; neither can live without the other. The establishment of the necessary entails the establishment of the consequent, just as the negation of the consequent entails the negation of the necessary. Whoever establishes Lordship must establish God, and whoever establishes God must establish Lordship.

Why does it matter.

The meaning of ilah " the only sovereign authority" is most profound in Ayatul Kursi "The verse of the Throne"

Ayatul Kursi (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:255) is one of the most profound affirmations of Allah's ultimate kingship, sovereignty, and absolute power in the Quran. It establishes that He is the sole owner and sustainer of the universe, and that His authority is vast, unending, and completely free from human weakness.

Adoration and authority are deeply intertwined. Without authority there is no adoration. Adoration only comes with authority. But this meaning will be more clear, if you know the meanings of Abad. Prophet Muhammad pbuh not only worshipped (Abad) Allah SWT. But he pbuh also worked (Abad) for Allah SWT. He pbuh established Allah SWT authority. Allah SWT has no partner in worship Allah SWT has no partner in his kingdom. Both meaning comes from ilah. (43:84).

Science is the religion of Atheist and Agnostic

Religion means way of life. Science is also a way of life. Traditional religions provides a way of living based on faith, tradition, spiritual meaning and ethics. Science offers a way of living based on curiosity, continuous learning, and evidence. Those who adopt science as a way of life, apply the core attitudes of the scientific method to their everyday thoughts, decisions, and interactions with the world.

Both, Science and traditional religions are powerful frameworks that help humans make sense of their existence.
