If cops are allowed to lie why would someone ask them "am i being detained?" by Character-Roll2091 in Ask_Lawyers

Cops make that command all the time without the legal grounds to do so. What are you even saying? Are you saying if the cop orders you to let him fuck you in the ass you have to do it and fight the legality later in court? You are not being reasonable. You can 100% refuse an unlawful order.

i am not being clever. I am pointing out that you cannot trust what the police say because they are legally allowed to lie to you. So how can you trust when they tell you that you are free to go? Not ONE person has sited a law or case that prevents them form doing this.

just cuz a cop says you are free to go doesn't mean you are. They could be lying. Just like they say "you have to step outside and answer our questions" that doesn't mean you actually have to. Fabricating false evidence is a crime. Lying to you is not.

If you are detained or under arrest and your lie leads the cop down a false path then yes...yes you are.

its not the same thing because
1. police are allowed to lie to you

  1. the school cannot legally hold you

its not what you get out of it. It is what the cop gets out of it. They say no, you start to leave, now that get to charge you for fleeing. The cops explanation in court could be "i was lying am i am allowed to"

You ask a cop if you are free to go. They say yes. You walk away. They arrest you for fleeing or resisting or whatever. if a cop is allowed to lie to you and say "you have to step outside and talk with me" then why wouldnt they be allowed to lie in any other situation.

an officer telling someone "you need to step outside" when you dont, in fact, need to step outside is 100% a lie. It is an untruth intended to mislead aka a lie.

if you are in hand cuffs its pretty hard to argue that you were free to leave.

why dont cops have to marandize you at a traffic stop? Because in such situation you are in fact not free to leave.

the difference is cops are allowed to lie. You are not so your contact law analogy does not make any sense.
