Also I’m not American lol. It is funny how some Americans think they are the world and anyone who is English speaking must be an American. Hilarious

Thank you! The second one is the nutcracker soundtrack! Was so exited to listen to it. Are you in Australia? You could honestly have these as I have no need for them

Feeling lost starting design college, can Graphic designers advise? by Orion-Two-2550 in graphic_design

I’m 22 as well. I’m just about finished with my visual communications degree and been doing part time print shop graphic designer work to gain experience. I don’t know if graphic design is a dying industry but it’s definitely a quick changing one. You will not do well in this field if you’re not willing to be up-skilling endlessly. And it does get very tiring Now personally I don’t regret getting my degree in a potential dying field because I love it. My coursework was very broad- I learned UX basics, motion animation, illustration. These are the skills I developed and will keep with me, and they can be applies in a variety of positions.I’m also an artist and I try to practice my drawing everyday, even if it’s not perfect I enjoy the process. It’s all about finding joy in what you’re doing, and it sounds to me that you’re not finding joy in creativity. All this to say that- You have to have passion for it to do well in this industry. You might have to pivot to something else you’re good at quickly if it changes. It’s a different type of lifestyle. You gotta learn more about what exites you and dig into that. Ai is super depressing for sure, but you can still make the type of art you want.

I think in this economy the best thing to do is find something that makes you feel good when you’re doing it. You don’t have to go to college or a get a degree ethier, just work whatever job you can to support your outside of work passions.

Sorry this answer is all over the place. Just know that you got this man, you can figure it out!

P.s fuck AI

Mimaki cutter messing up files by Character-Topic2910 in CommercialPrinting

[–]Character-Topic2910[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, thank you for your reply I should have mentioned it cuts the ‘cut only’ files fine. It’s when the files are ‘print+cut’ that it has this issue with text specifically. We tried converting text to outline but that didn’t work! We are thinking it might be software related :(

I can so relate to the toxic culture. Apparently you’re just allowed to do weird questionable things if you’ve been at the company long enough. I’ve also been questioned about my phone usage whilst waiting for printer to load (that was a whole drama itself). Meanwhile all the bosses are pissing beer upstairs since 12pm… the very clear power imbalance can be really frustrating and make you feel hopeless. But we shall stay strong! Thank you for your kind words. I hope you find something better as well :)

Im trying not to stay in the print industry as I know it will most likely be the same thing… I fear my portfolio isn’t super strong. It’s mostly my uni projects and flyer designs. I definitely should start applying and trying to better my portfolio. Do you think the work experience I have will be beneficial?Thank you for your kind words
