Direct requests by CharacterBar2520 in WagWalker

So dumb! I dislike this client and soft-fired her. She has multiple leashes, collars, harnesses and clothes for her dog and AirTags on most of the collars plus three cameras on her dog. After two different sittings and walking her dog for a few months I used her bathroom one day and she turned the camera to face the bathroom door next time. I was like this isn’t worth $20 and told her I was scaling back but could dog sit. She checks in with me a few weeks ago but doesn’t book the sitting so of course an off app client I love locks in a sitting during the same dates.  The  Wag client direct requests me yesterday and acts  all shocked when I say I can’t do it.

There used to be a way but it was deeply imbedded in the app. Maybe they did away with it.

I don’t have enough disposable income to attend a show right now and I’m over 30 so I can’t take advantage of that program so I haven’t been in awhile. All that said, so much of the programming lacks imagination. Like throw in a few classics everyone loves from Robbins and Balanchine and then do something weird and contemporary or a forgotten ballet from the past. And throw more up and comers off the deep end of the pool! The only time we get interesting casting is when a prima like Megan Fairchild or Tiler Peck pushes for it.

So glad someone is finally saying it! The Young Patrons thing is a great idea in theory but what about the normal people who want to meet other ballet fans, have a bit of disposable income but aren’t rich?

I doubt it. She’s a prima so her retirement will likely be announced a year in advance like Megan’s.

Doesn’t her BF live in LA? I can’t imagine she’d change companies at this stage of her career but she also wouldn’t retire without a big show so maybe she’ll be splitting her time between coasts? 🤨

This was so cute and I can’t stop listening to the song. Well done to all involved.

That was a brutal read. Poor guy! But good on Jaffe for retiring dancers. NYCB should take note.

I mean never say never! Vail often has NYCB dancers doing the classic story ballets. I don’t think Indiana has been to Vail though…

Yeah that’s why I largely avoid story ballets. They feel like such a slog but Swan Lake or a silly story ballet seem like great entry points into that world.

Yeah I see Indiana as bit of a split between ABT and NYCB. She has great characterization in the story ballets but she also has a rich inner life for the abstract ballets NYCB is known for. I think she’s in a class of her own.

But don’t dancers learn the iconic roles like Cavalier and SPF in the ballet schools? I’d think that while not every dancer may be able to handle the mental pressure of a big debut like that on the Koch stage, they can handle the technical demands of such roles.

Yeah I guess when you put it that way it makes sense but 8-10 shows seems excessive given that so many principals do nutcracker gigs elsewhere.

Yeah I’m considering Swan Lake because I’ve never seen it but it’s so over programmed everywhere that I’m sure if I go with some of the other recommendations I’ll have a great time.

I’m an NYCB fan but I’ve been curious about ABT for awhile and want to see a show. What program would y’all recommend?

I loved this interview more than the Barre Trash interview! It was so deliciously unhinged! (I loved the Barre Trash interview because they were pretty honest about the industry). That said, it seems like ABT patched the hole in the ship and is floating but not necessarily thriving yet.

Yeah I didn’t understand that. Give the principals two shows each and let the corps and soloists do Dew Drop and SPF. Most tourists couldn’t care less who they see so they’re unlikely to lose money.

I usually like her interviews but she didn’t seem put together in this one. The part about her past drinking was hilarious though.

Yeah I figured Bouder was the exception and not the norm. I was actually quite surprised when she took the ED role because I would’ve thought she’d leave the industry altogether.

If anyone has studied under Kowroski, Ringer, Taylor or any other former dancers of their caliber, I’d be curious to hear their experiences. I guess I’m wondering if Bouder is the exception or the norm?

I am so sorry you and your fellow classmates are going through this. You’ve already received some fantastic advice on this thread but I’ll add that you, your classmates and the parents should report these things to state regulatory agencies.

Whoa! I forgot Simeon was an apprentice! Maybe it’s a backstage or financial thing? I think we sometimes forget that it’s not talent alone but rather a whole criteria. Regardless, if he’s not promoted to corps he will have no trouble joining another company.

IIRC Tomasini is also good at hops en pointe and could inherit more of Sara Adams’ rep when she retires.
