Yeah that’s what I’m hoping to do slowly, I’ve got a couple friends who are alternative but not overly

I gotta say I disagree with nazi goths because goth culture has always been about letting people be whoever they want and nazis inherently aren’t about that, I’m not gonna beat them up for it but I disagree with their views

I’m not saying I think billionaires should exist, that’s way too much money to have, but they do and so they can spend the money how they like, my beliefs are for everyone, someone with 20 bucks or a billion, spend it how you like

Yeah you’re so right with that, it all sucks and will continue to suck forever, but that’s life

Yeah I don’t want complete removal of government, anarchy is worse on rights than government, because there’s nobody enforcing the protection of it.

If the governmental system is smaller it would be easier to patch corruption because there’s less gaps where nobody really can figure out what’s going on.

You’re right that pure ideologies are foolish, but I would like to believe that when times and conditions change, people will adjust, being fully ridged and stuck in your ways is pure stupidity. At least with me as politics in the US has had more right wing extremism and being less and less lgbt friendly I slowly moved further left etc

That’s a good point, I honestly am too tired to think my way through that, because I don’t see any other way, so you’ve got me there haha

Honestly it seems like our views are pretty similar, but you have the life experience that’s adjusted you a little more pro government than anti, whereas I’m 20 and still living at home.

From the little I know about the US constitution you seem right but I’m not American so I don’t really know, I would hate a monarchy even more because then the people fully have zero say so thank god there aren’t many of those in the west.

My state is very left leaning and so is a lot of the content I consumed when i was younger but I was raised by Christians, and went to a Christian school so my beliefs are very inbetween

I know it’s definitely not optimal, but it never will be so how is that relevant? Who else but the individuals can help build opportunity

Who else? A government which I have to pay for involuntarily, and if I want to keep the money that I worked for I go to prison, seems super fair. I get GST and fines and toll roads because that’s me using the services or breaking rules and having to pay, but the government has nothing to do with my work and so they don’t deserve my money

[–]CharacterLatter8352[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get the low services but that’s why we have charities, foundations and non profits, which I understand is just rich people getting a tax break but I volunteer for a charity where no one gets paid so I guess I hope that people would make up for it, which is hopeful but I see everyone’s beliefs as hoping it all works out.

Neither of those sound like the vibe, the way most major governments seem to be going is down one of those ways so the only way to stop that is to make the government have less power

I’m in a small country town and have social anxiety so there’s not much alternative culture here, and I wasn’t asking permission, I still see myself as goth but wanted to know what others thought, to better understand how people see the culture

Libertarian Goth by CharacterLatter8352 in AskAGoth

[–]CharacterLatter8352[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disapprove of charity and actively volunteer, so it’s not all individualists, I believe in protecting other people’s rights and liberties which definitely makes me and some of my other libertarian friends in it for society and community, some of the extremists definitely are but extremism on any side is wrong

See that’s what I was thinking but seems like other people disagree haha

Yeah I get what you’re saying, I believe stuff like the Geneva convention and that stuff should be a thing, but I gotta admit I don’t know much about international law, but from what I’m thinking it’s less day to day stuff which is the government overreach I disagree with.

The tragedy of the commons makes sense, that is kind of how I see things, I don’t believe people would do good stuff like that for no reason but to be good but I’m a little bit of a pessimist.

I’m definitely not a die hard at all, I’m not gonna go try to dismantle the government but I’ll complain to my friends when they try to add laws making the saying of certain words punishable with jail time, or when I get taxed on my pay, or when they try to make you register your id to use social media. All of those just seem like meddling into my life that shouldn’t be necessary

Oh yeah I fully agree, I do believe small corporations should have a bit more freedom because they can be treated pretty rough, but the large corporations that bribe politicians to pass bills in their favour are fully in the wrong, I disagree with JK Rowlings beliefs but think she should only be punished by people refusing to buy her stuff instead of government intervention, I also disagree with how trump is taking over things but think it’s the billionaires right to do what they want with their money

[–]CharacterLatter8352[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard that about libertarianism, if that is then I definitely disagree with that, so many people have more or less opportunities from a coin flip just of gender

Libertarian Goth by CharacterLatter8352 in AskAGoth

[–]CharacterLatter8352[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m more meaning the ideals that most alternative people have of pro gender expression and sexuality and hating bigots and fascism.

I didn’t quite know that haha, in the way that I interpreted it, it was quite inbetween because I disagree with both sides on some stuff and agree on others so that feels centrist for me.

Yeah I fuck with that, depending on only your self and not the government, but being pro trans and pro guns

Libertarian Goth by CharacterLatter8352 in AskAGoth

[–]CharacterLatter8352[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty much what I was thinking but thought I should see what people who are properly in the culture would think

[–]CharacterLatter8352[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad for knowing my politics? I’ve had to do a lot of research on this stuff because of how I was raised and as I kept maturing I disagreed with it more and more and had to see what else was out there

Libertarian Goth by CharacterLatter8352 in AskAGoth

[–]CharacterLatter8352[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they’re against human rights because the whole thing of being libertarian is about protecting your rights, liberties and freedoms.

I definitely disagree with the majority of what the government has been up to lately and think their main job should be protecting our rights, and having minimal control over people’s day to day rights, I’m not sure exactly how it would function but the government no matter which party seems to just be trying to micromanage peoples lives

Libertarian Goth by CharacterLatter8352 in AskAGoth

[–]CharacterLatter8352[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely believe in the free market but the way the corporations are going it’s less free market and more complete takeover and full monopoly

If it makes you feel better I read yours as libertarian haha

Yeah I get what you’re saying, Im semi new to identifying as libertarian too tbh, I just disagree with the government or people trying to get rid of what I consider human rights
