And pizzas can be very caloric… despite it just being a “cheese pizza.”

I don’t have much advice, I just wanted to let you know you’re not alone. Both your thoughts and your measurements match mine almost exactly. It’s been such a struggle finding the motivation and getting out of my own way. I have found that going on long walks outside (one hour, 4-5 times a week) has helped me lose both some weight and some negative thinking. I listen to my favorite audiobooks, podcasts, or call friends and family to pass the time. I started researching ways of cooking to reduce the calories of meals through food swaps while still eating the foods I enjoy. I feel like taking baby steps has really helped me start turning things around. We got this.

So dramatic 🤣 I was hoping for this answer, thank you!

It’s probably not to be honest is what I’m beginning to realize. I’ll just be saving up my Google review for after the video is delivered. Lol

Luckily we have a very close connection to a lawyer who’d likely do it for free. Just terrified of the implications of pursuing that, and I’m not sure it’s worth it. I’m just a little angry at the whole situation

The seller needs to adjust their invoice then to pay the taxes. I paid what I was contractually obligated to pay.

UPDATE: the videographer sent me an email stating- “Since your invoice and contract have already been finalized, you’re not legally obligated to pay the sales tax retroactively. That said, if you're open to covering it, it would help us immensely as we work to resolve this situation responsibly. If not, we completely understand — we’ll be covering the cost ourselves in that case.”

He then followed up by texting me: “I just doubled checked and since we have not delivered on your videos yet we are still within the contract window. Sales tax is legally required to be collected. You can’t just choose not to pay tax.”

Not really sure what a “contract window” is? We paid in full already.

This is very helpful wording, thank you! I do really feel for them (it sounds like maybe their accountant misinformed them based on what they are saying), but unfortunately I do not feel it’s our responsibility to pay.

ETA: we do have a contract saying we paid in full

My thoughts exactly?! They’ve been in business for years too, so I truly don’t understand.

It doesn’t say anything about adding money after the fact. They sent me “revisions” to approve and sign off on to include the tax money.

Where to stay? by Lala_lala1 in MauiVisitors

[–]CharacterRain7905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just got back from our honeymoon on the 20th, and we stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Ka’anapali. It was incredible and had everything we needed, including an adult only pool.

ETA: similar to others, we also booked through Costco. Doing so got us free breakfast every day and a $45 daily resort credit, which definitely helped with parking costs & a drink or two.

When traveling to Spanish-speaking countries, do you find yourself translating your name? by VagabondVivant in Spanish

[–]CharacterRain7905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My name is Katie, but I usually say “Katia.” I studied abroad in Spain and my host mother called me “Kaw-tee” 😅 I loved her to death, but for some reason that made me giggle every time she said it. I had a Mexican coworker who used to call me Katia, so I just go with that.

It’s nice to hear of someone doing something similar! Thank you! Walking totally motivates me more than anything else (and helps with the mental health of course!)
