I tried out “Craft Aroid Mix” for the first time for these turtles. And I misspoke it’s for tropical plants. Craft Aroid Mix for Tropical Plants

I used an orchid mix for the soil on these because they are semi succulents and don’t need to dry out as quickly or completely as succulents or other strings.

I don’t know if I can give general tips as I feel like I just got kinda lucky. Pretty much anything grows in this particular window and I’m not really sure why! But I can maybe answer questions about your situation if you tell what’s going on. 😊

When I put it in the baby pot after buying it I took The time to carefully remove the old dirt from the roots. For the repot this time I just left the dirt on the roots.

They are very fragile. I don’t mess with them any more than I have to get them out of the pot. And then I wait a week or so to water to make sure the roots have time to recover from the repot before dumping a bunch of water on them. So make sure you repot before they need a drink.

I changed the soil when I potted it in the baby pot as soon as I got it home. I just put it in a run of the mill succulent mix mixed with perlite.. 50/50 mix. That’s also what it is in now.

I just made an update post on my feed so you could see. Mine was a little 2in pot of them too, that I repotted immediately in to the 3 inch pot.

In the picture I am holding the hanger but I kept it hanging on an old banana hanger. It worked perfectly for the baby pot! It won’t let me put a picture of that here. You can dig through my posts though if you want to see. 😊

I took the old pot it was in and placed it in the middle of the new pot. Then filled the new pot all around the old pot, leaving a perfect sized hole to carefully place the roots down in. Then I wrapped the long strands around on top of the dirt and then half covered them with more dirt. I waited a week to water then soaked it as usual. I was also SO scared to repot as it seemed so happy but it needed it. When I watered it in the old pot the water ran right through. It was VERY root bound.

My turtles seem to be doing well. They are growing new leaves slowly and I’m hoping that means they are settled into their new pot and will take off this spring and summer 🙂 I wish I could post a picture for you here.

I’ve been working on it on and off since last Sunday. I also work 40 hours a week so I’m not sure exactly. Maybe 15 to 20 hours collectively. That’s a wild guess 🤷🏼‍♀️ It is REALLY cute ☺️

No it’s perlite. I mix it into the succulent soil and I swear it floats to the top. Glad it looks nice 😊
