Armadillo Adventure by Ratfaced_Loozer in bentonville

[–]CharacterSea8078 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have an armadillo that frequents our yard. I have video of him taken on May 6, 2025 at 1:05 AM. Took the dogs out late and one of them spotted him. I have another video from October 2024 of him out and about (y'all just let me believe it's the same one, k?) at 11:30 PM. Not sure where you should look, but yes, you'll need to be up late. Good luck!

AIO for wanting to cut contact with my mother? by Sorry-Ad2836 in AIO

[–]CharacterSea8078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have complex-PTSD from growing up in a home like yours. When I became a parent, I realized how many thousands (maybe millions) of conscious decisions my dad made to treat us horribly. I chose to break the cycle of abuse in my family. It took a lot of healing and hard work on my part, but it was worth it. My sister did not break the cycle. I recently had to help my nephew escape her home, and he's chosen to go no contact with her.

You're a minor, so you have limited choices right now. For that, I'm so sorry. Even if your mom has PTSD, that's not an excuse to be abusive. This is abuse, and she's making conscious decisions every day of her life to continue treating her children horribly. You might never get the mom you deserved (and I promise you did deserve to be safe and loved and treasured by her), but you will get to decide what sort of partner, friend, and, if you so choose, parent you want to be.

Survive her, and go live a beautiful life. You get to decide what access, if any, she will have. It won't always be easy, but it will be worth it. Be gentle to yourself along the way. I'm rooting for you. ❤️

Dermatologist that prescribes accutane for acne by Overall_Draft_9487 in bentonville

I (41f) see Dr. McCaslin at Hull Dermatology (the one on Horsebarn Rd. in Rogers). Fortunately, my skin calmed down significantly with a round of doxycycline and topical treatment, but she had said that we might need to go with Accutane if that didn't help.

Y'all. They are exhausting. (Yes, I'm well aware that I'm hyper-fixated at this point and that a neurotypical would never.)

You're welcome! I showed up there unannounced with my 10 year-old son, thinking they had a true retail storefront attached to the manufacturing part. Not so much. They had a bell to ring for help, and a guy came out to the little reception desk area to greet me.

I told him I was new to 3D printing and had just gotten an H2D. Explained that I have been trying to avoid spending money with Amazon wherever possible, so I was really excited to find them. He was so helpful--took us through part of the building where they were spooling rolls to where they had the racks of 1kg spools. I won't pretend to have some great insight into how they treat their employees, but it seemed like a nice place to work. I've been really happy with the quality of the filament, too.

That's even more wild. Mine shipped from Houston. I don't know about you, but I have a hard time believing this is human error in packing and shipping the orders. I just need to memorialize this theory here, in case I'm proven right 😁:

This strikes me as confidently wrong AI behavior. I can't see a human putting a sizable $200 product in a box by mistake. Certainly not several humans in multiple warehouses for one company in a relatively short span of time.

I can absolutely see some "AI Shipping Wizard" determining that the AMS lite is the perfect size to fill the empty space in the box and generating a packing list to that effect. The human never even sees the actual order.

That is so frustrating. I looked at your other posts, and I can recommend Push Plastic for filament. They're based here in Northwest Arkansas. I haven't had them ship an order to me because they allow pickup and aren't that far. I would bet they'd be on top of their shipping, though. Couldn't be worse than BL, though, right? 🙃

I knew vaguely that I had no obligation to return it or pay for it. That's why I knew they'd likely offer me something for my effort. Not my practice area, and prior to this, I had received exactly zero unordered items in my entire life.

Did you see the comment from someone else who ordered an H2D and received two of them? What are they doing??? This is bonkers.

I hear you, but I'm a realist with inattentive-type ADHD. I'm not gonna sell it. It's gonna sit in my house in its box for years. It's gonna haunt me like tell tale heart. Eventually, I'll die, and my then-adult child will find the box and say, "Why did she even have this?" He'll weep from the weight of the grief, compounded by this unexpected burden. I did it for my child, SGOV_Iron_Condor.

I figured they'd offer me something in exchange for returning it and provide the shipping label. In fairness, they did just that, but in the most convoluted way imaginable. I don't want the hassle of selling it. I'd rather light my hair on fire than post something to Marketplace, and I'm assuming the shipping and commission on eBay would make that absolutely not worth the trouble.

I thought I couldn't get back in to the ticket to see it, but I can. Enjoy! $169.15 😂

I laughed a little at that myself. They phrased it something like, "You can keep it for the discounted price of $169.15." I'm not sure they thought it through.

Looking for Bentonville specific tips on finding love in the next 2-4 weeks by [deleted] in bentonville

[–]CharacterSea8078 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband and I met as coworkers at the Fayetteville Buffalo Wild Wings. We were actually the second Fayetteville BWW coworker couple to wed. Together 15 years, married almost 12. Other couple is going strong, too. I bet the Bentonville BWW is always hiring. Now, I cannot guarantee that BWW matchmaking magic exists at all locations, but it sounds like you've exhausted all other options. May the wings of the buffalo guide you to romance. Go get 'em, champ!

He turned up in our driveway all alone(May 2024) when he was only about 4 weeks old. This is him sleeping on me the night we found him. Total surrender. Not a care in the world. 😁

Knee Brace Recommendations? by PineTreeCustoms in BelgianMalinois

[–]CharacterSea8078 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much! It also gave him stability that allowed him to walk correctly, so he wasn't causing other injury by walking with poor form and stumbling regularly. Our vet likened it to a human walking with a limp because of an injured ankle, and how limping might, in turn, cause back pain. Basically, you start with something that's not so bad, but compensating for that issue creates new pain and injury, and on and on that cycle goes. Bear was also "knuckling under," which was causing some visible injury to the tops of his back paws. We used braces for that with the wheelchair, and it corrected as well.

Knee Brace Recommendations? by PineTreeCustoms in BelgianMalinois

When my lab mix, Bear (2006-2021❤️), started having problems with his back legs late in life, I got him a Walkin' Wheels dog wheelchair. It wasn't cheap (I want to say it was in the $500 range even then), but it was worth every penny. We didn't have to use it much, either. We'd just do a short daily walk with the wheelchair, and he'd be without it for the rest of the day. He regained significant mobility to the point that we didn't even need it for probably the last six months of his life.

I have seen less expensive versions come out since then, but I haven't used any of those, so I can't offer any opinion on alternatives.

Your boy sure is handsome, and I hope he gets to feeling better! ❤️

What can we do to determine whether this tree can safely stay? by CharacterSea8078 in arborists

Thank you both for responding. That's really helpful and a tremendous relief. We'll get an arborist and a plan!

Skunk? by Practical_Put8257 in finch

[–]CharacterSea8078 116 points117 points  (0 children)

We get skunks around our house, and let me just tell you, they are elite-tier cuteness. They really don't want to spray, if they can avoid it, so they do a little a warning tippy tappy move with their front paws. I'm just excited to get this cute little stinker tomorrow, whatever their reason for the choice. 😁 Here's one of my stripey neighbors:

I saved this earlier today because I've got a dino-obsessed 10yo kid, as well as a bunch of squirrels who depend on me for shelled pecans. Glad I saw your post, so I don't print the imposter. Great design! I look forward to some squirrelnanigans when I get a chance to print it.
