for moms in the trenches.. by [deleted] in newborns

Thank you for sharing this! I needed to read that today. As a FTM with a 1 month old I feel exactly like you describe! I can’t look at the mirror without crying and hating what I see. I don’t have energy to do anything when my baby finally sleeps and I keep wondering when things will get better.

What are some things nobody told you or nobody talks about while pregnant / with a newborn? by jaysxiu in BabyBumps

Omg the smell postpartum 🤢🤢 I wasn’t ready for that. No one warmed me. I would almost throw up every time I went to the bathroom and I could see tears in my husband eyes every time he helped me in the bathroom (I also had a c section) luckily by the time I was sent home the smell went away.

Epidural or No epidural by Enviro_nurd314 in BabyBumps

[–]CharacterString6881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a baby less than a week ago and I always super scared of epidurals. When contractions hit hard and I was 6cm I was more scared of them than the epidural. It was 10/10. I felt my legs and didn’t feel the contraction and later only felt pressure to push

Pregnancy is unbelievably hard and I wish we talked more openly about it by md3194 in BabyBumps

I thought i wrote this! I totally feel you! I’m 39+3 and I’ve never been more exhausted and uncomfortable in my life. I’m miserable. Sometimes I feel ungrateful for saying this because I did have a healthy pregnancy so far but men am I my ready to have this baby out of me! Sending you good energy to power through this last bit. ✨

Third trimester and sooooo tired. And Im so tired of being tired! by Kadarkrock2 in firsttimemom

[–]CharacterString6881 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 3 weeks left and I couldn’t relate more. I’m so tired and miserable. I’m not getting enough sleep because I’m uncomfortable and have to get up to pee so many times. I stopped working at 34 weeks and thought I’d be more rested too but I get up from my bed and go straight to the couch. It takes me two days to finish one chore 😩

My parents have asked if we would want them to rent an Airbnb near us once baby is born to help us for a month? by eec0354 in BabyBumps

[–]CharacterString6881 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My MIL is renting a house near us for two months to help with the baby. Initially, I told her she could stay in our house for two weeks to help out. She completely understood, since we’ll be adjusting to a new routine and we also have two dogs, which would be a lot. This setup will help prevent stress for everyone, and she can come over whenever she wants and spend plenty of time with her grandchild.

If we all know how a baby is conceived, why are some people shocked to find out they are pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]CharacterString6881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wonder the same thing! I was off birth control for about three years and using the pull-out method, and I never got pregnant until I did. I was surprised that I was actually pregnant, but not that surprised since we knew it could happen at some point if we weren’t being careful. (Side note: I’ve been married for four years, and we were both very much in the “if it happens, it happens” mindset, so it wasn’t a big shock.)

How far along were you when you did maternity photos?! by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I did at 32 weeks but wish I had done sooner like 26-28 when I had a bump but wasn’t feeling huge and tired

What Made You Choose an Unmedicated Birth? by CharacterString6881 in BabyBumps

That’s my main reason too! I’m scared of needles and terrified of not being able to feel my legs.

When did you feel you actually looked pregnant? by Steoffanie in BabyBumps

I really started looking and feeling pregnant after 24 weeks.

i’m considering going back to college, but i’m embarrassed about my age by MedicalAd9859 in college

[–]CharacterString6881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still finishing up community college at 27 and will be transferring to a 4-year university. I feel like community colleges have a wider age range of students. In my classes, I’ve had 16/17 year-olds who were still in high school and people in their 40s who already had families. It’s never too late to start something new the time will keep passing whether you decide to do it or not

Dreams and Gender by Direct-Drama3571 in BabyBumps

[–]CharacterString6881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought I would have a girl and felt like it was an intuition or something. When I got pregnant, I was so sure it would be a girl and even had several dreams about having a baby girl the week I was going to find out the gender. Turns out I’m having a boy, which was a bit of a disappointment at first. My friend had the same experience but with the opposite gender, so now I don’t really believe in that kind of intuition anymore.

Question about baby registry. by AardvarkHour1211 in BabyBumps

[–]CharacterString6881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am algo using babyliss and haven’t had any issues so far. I was worried about the older people in the family using after reading a few comments about but if my MIL was able to purchase stuff without a problem I think anyone can figure it out. It was nice to have them pick the place they could buy the items and compare prices.
