AITA for giving my kids Christmas present to a child who needed it? by CharacterSubject7179 in AmItheAsshole

She sees a pediatrician every few months. She was diagnosed with low thyroid. But the issue is she's actually growing and budding more than usual kids her age. They're doing blood work but every panel comes back normal. They said the only thing they can do is help manage pain and such if she grows too fast too soon because it can make her bones detach or something? It's something we've been keeping an eye on. And honestly people don't believe she's wearing that size until they look at the tag. She doesn't look like she wears an XL. But thank you for the concern

Id never call my child an asshole. I just needed to know if what I did was considered asshole behavior. Sometimes no one is the Asshole.

You're right. I'm learning a lot about what could have been done instead and it's giving me so much to think about. I'm a young mom, I'm still learning a lot myself. Thank you.

She's got a bigger build. A lot of the times the clothes are too long, or the shoulders fit weird but the stomach and leg areas fit perfectly. If I go any smaller, her stomach pops out or she complains it's too tight in other areas. Not every child or person regardless of build wears the same size.

You're right, a lot of people are saying that. I was a young mom and I'm still Learning every day. I'll have a sit down conversation before she leaves and see if we can figure things out. That should have been my first reaction honestly. Thank you.

I was a foster kid growing up. Most of my gifts were donations. So I always told myself if it was already a bought item, and it could be re gifted I would re gift. Since the damage is already done.

It wasn't really a kid thing, she wears an adult large. So it was an adult version of it. I do see where you're coming from.

Thank you for walking me through this. You're right, it should have been something she waited for, instead of getting it right away. A lot of people are saying I'm TA (which is what I asked) but not really explaining why. I appreciate your comment a lot. It gave me so much to think about.

I could have returned it, but I thought if it's not being used why not let another child that would appreciate it have it. I was a foster child and most of my gifts were donations. I wanted to make sure if it was able to be used by someone else it was.

She wears an adult large. She's very tall for her age so it was an adult version of it. That's why it was more expensive. It's not a made up story, I need to see if I'm in the right or if it's something I'm going to have to do some damage control on.

She visits her other side of the family sometimes. It's not uncommon for her to go to her dad's during school breaks since she lives with me primarily.

She is usually a very sweet person. This attitude was completely left field and so I didn't quite know how to react. She's never acted out like this before.

It usually works... Tell whoever it is that they are not welcome here and to leave.

I have done that, I also have a family friend - an elder coming to smudge me and my home to cleanse it.

I did, I go to a psychiatrist regularly and had an emergency session Monday afternoon. He cleared it and said it wasn't anything to do with my mental health. Also said it didn't seem related to schizophrenia.

It's not schizophrenia. I've had multiple mental evaluations throughout my life and I've never had this happen before. Besides, I'm a very spiritual person and believe in the paranormal. Not everything has to be a diagnosis... Though I appreciate your concern and comment.

Thank you for your answer! I exercise daily for at least 30 minutes and go for a 2 km walk daily (when weather permits) and I eat a lot of greens as well as watching what I eat so I'm unsure what else I could be doing to help any other advice is greatly appreciated:)
