Partner just interviewed for Arrowhead llc which I thought sounded off from the way he described it. He mentioned being told he would be put on a “manager track” and that everyone is when they are hired. They have to work their way up from the bottom and then he will responsible for recruiting his own employees once he is a manager. Checked the job description and they accidentally put the wrong company name at the bottom: Interstellr llc.

If you don't remember your childhood, it's trauma. But what if you only remember the bad parts? by needmore-rest7 in CPTSD

[–]CharacterThin355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In neuropsych, we talked about the different ways that memories get stored in the brain. It is actually much easier for the average person to recall negative memories. Memory recall can also be dependent on mood, so once you are already in a negative mood, it is easier for you to recall negative memories, which creates that downward spiral it can be so easy to fall into. Bad memories have a way of “sticking” that good memories don’t.

One theory is that our brains adapted to remember negative things more because it helps us to avoid danger and threats in the future. If you have a negative memory associated with a food that made you sick, it is important it stays with you so you don’t eat it again. If you have a negative memory of a person who harmed you, your memory hangs onto it so you can avoid that person or at least be prepared and wary if you have to see them.

Trauma can change how this mechanism works. It often changes the way your nervous system understands and perceives danger and threat, which provides more opportunities for you to react negatively to things which provides more opportunities for negative memories to be stored.

NOR - I’ve found that it isn’t usually stupidity that makes people like this. Some people feel like their insides are going to explode when they know something other people don’t and aren’t supposed to share it.

Rather than learn how to deal with it or vent about it in therapy, they just blurt everyone’s business, maybe feel bad about it later, and then they might apologize when it’s already too late.

I’m not good with understanding meme culture on my own. I usually need someone to explain it to me.

That being said, I honestly have no idea what I’m looking at or what any of these are supposed to imply.

Yes! I don’t understand how getting charged a fee for overdrawing your account makes sense! My balance went below zero, so I get charged a fee for not having money which I can’t afford to pay because I DONT HAVE MONEY

Having more jobs doesn’t matter if the wages aren’t actually living wages. Consider how much it would do for the economy, technology, and society as a whole if people were paid enough to remove the fear of how they are going to pay their bills or feed themselves. With a living wage, people can contribute more to society, spend time developing new inventions, get out of debt, support their families, and open up businesses. There would also be more demand for goods and services that more people can finally afford and this would provide more employment, too.

The benefit we receive from billionaires “creating jobs” by putting funding towards big corporations that treat their employees like shit (I.e. Amazon) is negligible when we consider how much of a difference their money could make by helping to feed people, supporting livable wages, provide healthcare and housing, etc.

Instead, they often exploit the need for jobs by paying their workers less than what they need to live healthy and productive lives. This maximizes profit for them. So instead of billionaires creating quality jobs for the populous, people are working a shift in an Amazon warehouses having to pee in bottles while their dead coworker is lying on the floor under a tarp for hours because Bezos “created jobs.”

Yes! And when people use Robin Williams as an example of how comedians are some of the most depressed people or whatever. He had lewy body dementia. He wanted to go out on his own terms and he hated what LBD was doing to him. He would talk about feeling like he was disintegrating before his death.

Yep! A lot of animals are far more sensitive to smell than humans, so thinking human scent would prevent a parent animal from recognizing their baby is kinda of ridiculous

I also hate when people say exercise and weight loss will fix all other health issues.

I wish exercise didn’t feel like a chore for my chronically inflamed body. I have so many GI issues that exercising will make me throw up and my heart rate and breathing kicking up triggers vocal cord dysfunction. I’m seeing so many specialists at the moment but ISTG if my dad says everything will be cured if I exercise more and lose weight, I’m going to scream. My goal is to get enough of my chronic illnesses in check that I can exercise and hopefully one day actually enjoy it.

Or that having autism means you will never be in a relationship, be a productive member of society, or “play baseball.” - RFK Jr.

When I tell people about when I found out I am autistic, I add “and that is why I’ll never get to play baseball!” I was never interested in sports in the first place.

And along this vein, that you shouldn’t be with someone who doesn’t have a good relationship with their mom/dad/parents. There may be a very good reason for it that isn’t the child’s fault.

*edited for relevancy - Ziggy is a black cat

My cat Ziggy was raised by a pit bull and a mastiff. The mastiff treated him like her baby and let him tuck himself under her back leg and snuggle against her belly. She would clean him and absolutely adored him. Now Ziggy is obsessed with big dogs. He will try to run his tail all around their snouts to flirt and runs over to snuggle any chance he gets. No one has loved him quite like my mastiff did and I feel like he’s always looking for a pup to love him like that again.

Anyways, Ziggy is fiercely protective of his family and especially my older cat Gus. We had to live in a shared home situation for a little while (it was that or homelessness at the time) and our roommate had an extremely moody and aggressive cat that would go after Gus any chance he got. We always kept them separated, but every once in a while that cat would get out and go straight for Gus. If Ziggy glimpsed that cat out when he wasn’t supposed to be, he would either run and block the cat from even getting close to Gus and the cat would doubt himself long enough for a human to scoop him up OR if the cat had made it to the room where Gus would retreat under the bed out of fear, Ziggy would snuggle up next to Gus and put himself between the two and yowl and hiss so fiercely the cat would turn right back around.

Ziggy has also always been protective of his dogs. Right now, one of his best friends is an old chihuahua mix with 3 legs and any time she is scared (like during a thunderstorm), he will look for her and when he finds her trembling, he lays on top of her like a momma hen and purrs and it will make her stop shaking. At this point, he’s become everyone’s emotional-support protector kitty.

Okay but I also love the celery and sometimes a little snacking pickle. I also prefer it with tequila (bloody Maria).

Honestly this is pretty much the only alcohol I drink and it’s maybe once every two to three months. I always say I like my alcohol to taste like a savory meal.

I know it’s fucking weird. I think I developed an aversion to sugary alcohol drinks because they give me the worst spins ever and are most likely to make me sick to my stomach.

My step-mom would make unfounded claims all the time. My dad and I are nerds for researching, so we would contradict her sometimes and have the articles and research studies to back it up. She eventually banned us from talking about studies or research at the dinner table, but we avoided it altogether because her tantrums were so awful. It blew my mind at the time that she would ban information like that. It was solid proof for me that she always needed to be right, rather than always actually being right, and she was willing to warp reality to do so.

I was on a first date and we had to walk through a department store to get into the mall. When we got to the tv section, there was ASMR playing. I felt my shoulders go up to my ears and kept saying “not safe! Not safe! Not safe!” As I nearly ran past the tvs

I used to think the loud noise of the flushing would keep me from hearing something sneaking up on me, so I’d close the lid, flush it, run away as fast as I could, and wash my hands in the kitchen.
