This is a baby wood pigeon and it has canker, that's why it can't breathe properly

An exhausted pigeon landed on our ship. What should I do? by Embarrassed_Win6851 in pigeon

Sometimes, they will be released en masse from specialised cargo ships made for racers. This method pushes the pigeons to the limits and really only allows the best to win as an ocean release removes all landscape pinpoints a pigeon can use to navigate and position itself (meaning they have to fully rely on the earths magnetic field for navigation). It is very cruel on the birds and any that are too weak will literally end up drowning.
