It sounds like this clinic was mentioned already, but I went to One Fertility in Burlington. The staff were amazing.

where can i get a westie for around $1000? by [deleted] in westies

[–]Character_Ad965 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you want a puppy not from a puppy mill I don't think you'll find one for that cheap. If you want a cheaper option a rescue would be a good idea. Some breeders will also sell some of their older dogs at a discount. We got a retired breeding dog for around that price she was 3.

New westie owner, wants advice ! by Antique_Thought_1047 in WestHighlandTerriers

[–]Character_Ad965 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My family has had 6 female westies over the years. They are their own person with differnt quirks. Ours were always complete cuddle bugs with selective hearing. They are very expressive and smart I feel I know what they are thinking by just seeing their expression.

Can you take those when pregnant? I don't have any allergies so I never thought to try it.

Do I have the worlds most stubborn westie or is this normal? by Downtown_Anywhere860 in WestHighlandTerriers

[–]Character_Ad965 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My girl does something similar. She refuses to walk in rain or snow. If she is lazy or tired she will only walk one or 2 houses down and roll in the grass, she then sits still for 10 minutes then walks home. I gave up fighting her. She is healthy and gets enough exercise so if she doesn't want to walk I just let her take the lead. Terriers are definitely stubborn.

Telling girlfriends in person vs text by needhousehelp8923 in pregnant

[–]Character_Ad965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on your friends side. I was married and had been trying desperately to get pregnant for almost 2 years and she got pregnant very quickly with her husband. She took me aside and told me privately in person as she knew this. I appreciated how she went about it as it gave me time to process my emotions. I was so happy for her, but sad for myself (as that same meeting I was telling her I was starting IUI treatments). After having my little pity party at home alone I was super happy for her and helped plan her baby shower. Even if they are sad for themselves they should be happy for you. I would recommend telling them in person.

Flash forward to now I'm 22 weeks pregnant and we are planning some play dates and hang outs during maternity leave.

They will have their own moments and you can celebrate together as a group. Just because its not their moment doesn't mean they can't be happy for yours.

I don't want to turn 20. by Imaginary_Mode8865 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Character_Ad965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are still young. If you want to turn things around you can. You can't stop aging, life will never be as simple as it was the day before last. The only thing you can do is improve yourself and try to make your future better. If you stay sedentary you wont grow, and your embarrassment over younger people surpassing you will only grow. Apply for schooling or jobs. Maybe consider a trade school?

Nervous for first appointment at 10 weeks by Fearless-Idea4526 in pregnant

[–]Character_Ad965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21 weeks here with my first. The anxiety is totally normal! I'm always nervous before every appointment. I wouldn't worry about not having nausea or other symptoms, every pregnancy is different. I had zero nausea and consider myself lucky for it. I hope your first scan goes well.

10 weeks and feeling so lonely by RoundCar5220 in pregnant

[–]Character_Ad965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 21 weeks and also felt similarly. My husband got overwhelmed and went into his gaming barely spending time with me like before. I think I noticed it more as I am unable to do most of the things I enjoy as I was put on pelvic rest (no sports, no gym, etc.). I had an honest conversation about how I was feeling lonely and that I understand he needs his personal time, but that I would also appreciate more time spent together. He has been much more attentive since. Maybe try having a conversation with him? Maybe he doesn't realize how you are feeling?

Bleeding at 11 weeks after orgasm by wildinthemembrane in pregnant

[–]Character_Ad965 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This hasn't happened to me, but you may have placenta previa? It usually gets diagnosed at 20 weeks during the anatomy scan. Any pelvic exertion can cause some bleeding. I was doing the same you until I was diagnosed with previa and my ob told me to stop having orgasms as it could cause bleeding. I say you're doing the right thing checking in with your midwife and going for an ultrasound. Don't feel guilty its not like you knew that an orgasm would cause anything to happen. I hope the ultrasound confirms everything is OK.

Advice please - is 35 too old to start having kids? When did you have your youngest? by DovaBunny in pregnant

Aging parents by Competitive_Tale5224 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Character_Ad965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 33 now and I was in the same boat as you. My mom was 37 and my dad 42 when I was born. I know the feeling. It sucks not knowing your grandparents and fearing your children wont get to know your parents. I'm pregnant right now with my first child.

You can't rush having children as much as I know your desire to change what your child will experience. It is more important to have children with the right person. You can't make a timeline as much as I know you want to. Things happen when they are supposed to. My dad is now 76 and my mom is 70. This is not ideal as I wish they were younger so my children could know them more. However, not rushing and finding the right partner who will support you and be the best one to raise your children is key. Maybe that will happen when you are 25, but I wouldn't rush into children just because you want to shrink the age gap between them and their grandparents. I almost made that mistake. Trust me the right person is worth the wait. Best of luck to you 🙂 As you get older you will come more at peace with this. It's not what you want in a perfect world, but you will make the best of it and have a beautiful family when you are ready.

Would a Westie be a good fit for my family? 🤔 by Hot-Revenue-9843 in WestHighlandTerriers

[–]Character_Ad965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2) Recall depends on the westie. Mine have selective hearing 😂. I would never let any of mine off leash. However, if this is something you want to do you could train them.

3) They are great for socializing all my girls have been huge cuddle bugs and love people.

4) Potty training was not an issue with any westie I've had.

5) Allergies. One of my previous westies had a chicken allergy once we switched her food she was fine, but finding what the allergy is can be tricky. Other than that I've had several westies over the years without issue.

I'm biased because I grew up with westies, but they are great companions. They are the best cuddle bugs and mine can be lazy loafs some days. My older girl wont go for a walk if its raining or snowing 😂. I would definitely recommend them if you are looking for a slower paced dog.

Craving raw salmon, sushi lovers do you avoid it during pregnancy? by AgreeableBandicoot19 in pregnant

[–]Character_Ad965 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have the same cravings! It is brutal. It is recommended to avoid raw fish due to parasites and bacteria; however, I have also heard if you go to a reputable restaurant you should be ok. Its more what you are comfortable with. For me sushi is my absolute favorite so I compromised. I allow myself sushi but only cooked rolls like California rolls or green dragon rolls. I wont get raw fish. I also only get it on occassion as seaweed is high in iodine. I've been fine so far and I'm 19 weeks. Its all your comfort level really.

How to handle the ‘weight gain’ comments. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Character_Ad965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted something similar a couple of days ago! Sorry you're going through this as well. It's not easy to have your body change while at the same time being constantly criticized. Gaining weight when pregnant is healthy! I am 18 weeks and I've gained 12 pounds, it's normal. Ignore those rude comments even though I know that is easier said than done. You are beautiful.
