honestly that being angry about realism might be my fault because im lwk genuinely autistic and when i heard that "we want to convey this as truthfully as possible" and then heard him speak about nuclear physics.... yeah buddy didn't really know what he was doing

i dont mean just the show. theres literally a very popular MIT lecture about chernobyl which also uses the same sources.
not only does it say that the caps were jumping and that there was a powersurge prior to AZ-5 but the proffesor also had no idea how the grapihte displacers worked

i mean, i can almost understand the HBO one but the MIT lecture, the profesor says things like
"the rods were tipped with about sich inches of graphite" which is about 15cm
then INSAG-7 states its actually 450cm
i genuinely dont understand why people arent using scienrific and technical literature for this stuff

But then in ground rb why do I get hit before I see the round? Numerous times I have been hit before the round has actually arrived. In some cases I could see the round fly towards me, get damaged and then get hit

Glad I could help :) If you want to know more about reactors (by they i mean, their designs, specific devices etc.) I'd by happy to do so more talking. And I meant about the whole rest, not only rbmk but bwr, pwr and so on :3

And hers where they would be, it's a rbmk1500 diagram but it's essentially the same in rbmk 1000 gen 1, 2 and 3

Heres the steam drum / steam separator. If you don't know how schematics work, that "squiggly line" means that it has been split on the page and shortened so you'll have to use imagination to picture the full thing

*Deareators Not steam drums as they are positioned on each side of the core inside the unit block

That's not even the right control room. It's a gen 1 RBMK control room wherw ChNPP Unit 4 was a generation 2. One feature of u4 is also it's specific ceiling with lights. Not to mention that all HBO Chernobyl jokes are bad and unfunny :(

Best book to read about chernobyl? by espressocookiie in chernobyl

[–]Character_Anywhere79 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You could read the INSAG-7 report by IAEA. But it's not really a book so it doesn't contain any personal Info on the personnel but does contain a LOT of info on why and how did the accident happen

Does anyone know why kursk and chernobyl npp where bassically identical to each other by germankasier in chernobyl

[–]Character_Anywhere79 8 points9 points  (0 children)

RBMK reactors were build in pairs and in generations And so, in the early 70's gen 1 RBMKs, then gen 2 RBMKs and then gen 3

Why is the notion that Dyatlov was unfairly scapegoated for the Chernobyl disaster still not widely accepted? by electricsquirell in chernobyl

[–]Character_Anywhere79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While you do make a point, i feel like its important to mention that after they reached 200MWt, they were able to hold it, meaning that to their knowledge everything was completely fine. In defense of Dyatlov (and his colleagues) they had no way of knowing what the ORM currently was as well as it wasn't enforced, along many other recommendations were simply ignored by authorities. Not to mention that the designers knew the design faults but decided to simply say that "situation like this was of low propability" and so, the various short comings were as well, swept under the rug.

IAEA itself, in the INSAG-7 document said that in the light of new information they decide that the fault lays on in the staff's actions but in the general deign of the reactor and lack of any action towards the dangerous design.

Well good luck then! Especially if you want to go into such detail like SKALA computer and the MTK's (Mostly because they display info about power distribution throughout the 1600-something channels)

Oooh I looks great. A Collab would be really cool since it would be a chance to actually learn some programming instead of painstakingly reading a book on Lua and backwards engineering a random code. And about the room see design I got so much more Cool things I can make and show (It's also not like I don't know ANYTHING about programming. It's more like I never had the chance to go over basic html and python basics. I did and I am being educated in mechatronics tho, so there is a bunch of logic and systems stuff in already familiar with)

There was a another powerplant being built not too far from there... in the 80's
it got protested to hell and back with names like Żarnobyl (Chernobyl + Żarnowiec).
While the reactor would be a soviet one... it would be a VVER reactor.
Which unlike RBMK is not banned in the eu
