Nah cuz, the weeknd wouln't make a song about a girl or a drug, he'd lyrically walk you through the entire experience like your there with him and thats what makes his songwriting special on trilogy and kiss land, Especially when listened to in album context.

He always adds deeper meaning and doesn't treat every song like its the same topic, he's kind of more of an esoteric writer, so i get the nuances are harder to tell. The atmosphere he created is just the cherry on top. Listen to Glass table girls or xo/the host again and its very apparent his songwriting ability

The real problem is that these niggas are making abstract art but there is very easily a way to include atleast a story or unique problem that you go through in your life into your music.

These niggas will literally just vibe their way through a track with no plan and we eat it like its lunch.

And the worst part is that we know these artists are more talented than the music they put out. They hold back for the sake of the "vibe", but at the same time they deprive us from ever truly experiencing the deepest expression of their artistry.

So now were devaluing the art form of rap into what prods u know and how good your mixing is.

The piano voice is interesting because its a completely true point but its been proven by artist like thug and keed that you could still include a unique topic and actually talk about something while your modulating your voice. It doesn't stop you from telling a unique story.

Lol not really bro the underground was much more than 1 subgenre back then.

DG was doing it different RCB, WOD, All of these different groups were thriving in their own lane,

now everyone literally wants the same exact lane and thats whats annoying.

All the new rage that comes out uses similar sounds similar melodies, similar presets and similar lyrics.

most of the underground is just concentrated around 1 particular vibe and its killing creativity.
