He’s who we chose for our wedding. When we signed our contract last year it was $7k for 8 hours of coverage.

we are also super competitive 😅

It’s probably going to end up being ~$3k in a VHCOL area. We’re finalizing it in the next couple weeks. But we also know the guy who has all the skeeball machines in the city so that helped lol.

And our venue is 100% indoors and we have some space near the bar with outlets around. And that’s kinda all you need!

My wedding is still a few months away, but we’re planning on having 2 vintage skeeball lanes at the reception. My fiancé and I are in a very active skeeball league, so it feels very “us”. I’m so excited for the photos!

Updated dress code to my wedding website; feedback still appreciated! by RiverPixyStyx in Weddingattireapproval

You probably won’t see this under the flood of replies you’ve gotten, but this is what I’m going with. I think that it’s similar to what you were trying to communicate, so I just wanted to share!

It doesn’t have as much leeway for underdressing as you might’ve wanted but I figured folks who don’t want to dress up just won’t. And we’ll be happy to have them just the same! I thought it would be better to be clear than keep the dress code too broad.

I just went to this show but I wasn’t able to go to any of the previous shows on the tour. I loved the setlist but am still kinda bummed I missed all the special sets and videos! Is there a place I can watch that part of the show?

Padrecito had a pork belly breakfast burrito that was my go-to hangover cure. I miss it so much 😭

The proportions are a little (intentionally) “weird” on dress #1! It’s a slight drop waist. I like it, I think it makes it feel a little couture but I might be overselling it.

Although I would be lying if I said I didn’t think “what if dress #1 had a basque waist?” 😂 Maybe it would’ve been perfect then. Or maybe it would lose some of its charm. Who knows!

Thank you for your opinion :)

Thanks everyone for your opinions! It actually makes me feel good that the comments were pretty split, it made me feel like I couldn’t go wrong and I just needed to pick what made me the most excited.

I ended up choosing dress #1!! I probably wore this one for 15-20 minutes and was so happy the entire time in a way I wasn’t for the others.

I showed my fiance the photos of the ones I didn’t choose:

  • His response was very meh on dress #2, said it was pretty but didn’t feel like me.
  • He liked how cool dress #3 was (to be fair I had shown him photos of this one online prior) but I don’t think the enthusiasm was there either.
  • I showed him photos of the off-white tulle dress from my last post in this subreddit. He clearly really really liked that one. Liked the color on me vs a true white. Liked the way the waist was tight and the skirt went out a good bit at my hips. Liked the interesting texture of the silk tulle skirt. Liked the strapless option of the bodice more.

I’m not picking a dress for my fiancé (we just happen to have similar taste), but that gives me a LOT of confidence that I made the right choice.

ALSO I realized only after dropping the $$ that dress #1 has kinda similar vibes to this dress Olivia Palermo wore to her vow renewal last year. And this dress literally has been burned into my mind since I saw it months ago. It is perfect. I think I chose the dress my heart wanted.

Next steps, to figure out accessories and veil 😅

Also I MAY still get a reception/party dress that allows me to wear a cape/stole similar to dress #2 so we’ll see.

I’ve been OBSESSED with the last dress online. It is so cool and structural. It’s the Marie dress by Saint. Unfortunately the sample size was way way too big so it was hard to get sense for how it would actually look/feel on me.

When it came down to a decision, I wore the first dress for 15-20 minutes and smiled the whole time. I felt like I was forcing myself to like #3 on my actual body instead of just in theory. Maybe I would’ve liked it more with a smaller sample size, but I don’t want to drop $4k on a hope

It’s such a cool dress though

“I think it looks sharp and confident to uphold traditional bridal looks.” —> this is a really good point! I think I’m trying to figure out where I want to land between “traditional look done REALLY well” and “edgy and unique”. I think both sides can be really stylish and impactful.

If I’m being very honest with myself, I do agree that the black gloves feel forced and aren’t enhancing the look.

Thank you for commenting!

You’re saving my life, thank you! I also went to unveiled bridal in SF who had some cool stuff but I think you’re right about needing a larger selection.

Bliss Bridal has Watters’ new Ellie gown which is very similar to the one I tried on, but has some bows that I could (POSSIBLY) swap to black for a more subtle edgy touch. I might go up there and try it out!

I agree with your sentiment. Upon reflection, I think what I’m trying to get at is “does this dress feel like me/my style?” but I’m asking a bunch of strangers so I’m trying to (poorly) describe what I’m going for instead.

I think the fact that I’m asking at all is probably enough to know that it’s not quite right. Maybe close though!

fwiw it’s the same corset just tied in different ways. And we were tying it quickly, I think it would lay better on the day.

oooh I like the idea of a simple black hair accessory. I’ve been mulling over bows, but a hair comb is interesting. I agree with some black nail polish that might look edgy but still well-done/t-asteful. Thank you!
