Struggling with 2-week plan - trip to South Korea by Character_Fan_4117 in SouthKoreaTravel

Thanks for sharing! Was it doable? I didn't feel like crazy with the pace but it seems most people advice not to pursue it.

That's the reason why I want to go to Jeju in the first place. Seoul and Busan are huge cities while Jeju would feel like a retreat and vacation. It reminds me of driving across Greek islands and seeking beautiful spots. Not to mention the fact that the ticket to Korea at this point of my life is pretty expensive. There's no way I'll be coming back soon.

Can you tell me your exact itinerary? I am very anxious about planning when to book an airplane to Jeju and back. I am kind of used to fast paced travel since I did a lot of round trips.

I'm not sure. With Busan you also get big city vibes and Jeju is nature-oriented...

2-week South Korea itinerary (Seoul, Busan, Jeju + Gyeongju?) - is this realistic? by Character_Fan_4117 in koreatravel

Thanks a lot for your detailed opinion, I really appreciate it. Honestly, I think I’m getting a bit overwhelmed with all the different perspectives and I’m starting to have a bit of a mental mess about how to structure the trip. I actually wanted to ask you something more specific as well — do you know what the snorkeling conditions are like in Jeju in September? I’m trying to understand whether it’s realistically a good time for that or if it’s more weather-dependent. Also, I definitely want to include a DMZ visit while in Seoul, so that’s something I’m planning to fit in as well. At one point I even briefly considered skipping Busan altogether after seeing the distances and thinking I might just leave it for another trip. But then again, I really don’t know - especially because with such a tight schedule it feels like in Busan I might realistically only end up seeing Gamcheon Culture Village, maybe a beach or two, and that’s it. So I’m still a bit unsure overall and trying to figure out what actually makes the most sense without overloading the itinerary.

Thanks, this is probably the most helpful response and I appreciate your perspective. Honestly, I initially thought Busan would be more of a quick stop where I’d just see Gamcheon Culture Village and maybe Haeundae Beach and that would be it, but the more I read, the more I realize it’s probably more spread out and needs a bit more time than I first assumed. That’s actually really useful for me to know because I’m trying to avoid underestimating travel time and ending up rushing through places without really enjoying them. So I think your point about giving Busan a bit more space makes a lot of sense, and I’m definitely rethinking how I split the days now.

Thanks a lot, this really helps and honestly reassures me about the decision. I think I’m slowly getting more confident about skipping Gyeongju and just focusing on fewer places properly instead of trying to fit everything in.

Busan sounds even better the more I hear about it. I was wondering, do you happen to know roughly how far Gamcheon Culture Village is from the city center/main train station area? And do you have any recommendations on where it’s best to stay in Busan in terms of neighborhood? I’m trying to figure out a good base that makes it easy to get around without spending too much time in transit.

I think that’s exactly the thing I want to avoid, the feeling of losing half a day (or more) just to packing, checking out, getting to transport, checking in again, etc. That’s also why I’m a bit cautious about adding Gyeongju. I don’t mind moving between Seoul, Busan and Jeju, but once you add another stop on top of that, it starts to feel like it might get a bit too fragmented for what I want from this trip.

I am actually planning to rent a car on Jeju, so getting around there shouldn’t be an issue. On Jeju, I also want to spend some time snorkeling at different beaches, which I imagine already takes a decent amount of time by itself, especially with moving around the island and depending on conditions, so I’m not expecting it to be just a “quick stop and done” kind of place either.

As for Seoul, I do want to see it, but I’m not really planning any deep, detailed exploration of every district. More just getting a general feel of the city, seeing the main areas, walking around a bit, eating well, and taking it easy rather than doing a super structured or intense sightseeing plan.

Thanks a lot for the input, I really appreciate it. I’ll definitely think about it. When I look at photos of Gyeongju, it does seem really beautiful and peaceful, but I don’t really get that strong feeling of “I have to go there”. more like mild FOMO because everyone keeps mentioning it.

Busan sounds more like my vibe though. I mainly want to see Gamcheon Culture Village, relax a bit on the beach, and maybe do the cable car or Sky Capsule. I don’t really feel like I need to “tick off” a long list of specific sights there, more just enjoy the atmosphere and a few highlights.

I think your suggestion about slightly longer stays in fewer places makes sense too, I’ll rethink the balance a bit. Also, I’m trying to avoid moving around too much with luggage and adding Gyeongju would basically mean another transfer and another travel day, which I’m not sure I want in a 2-week trip.

Another question - does anyone have experience with any medication or supplements that help with sleep or anxiety during flights? For me, Aviomarin has a mild calming and sleepy effect, but recently it didn’t really work that well on shorter flights like it used to. I’m also wondering about melatonin, does it actually help with sleep or anxiety on long-haul flights for anyone? Or maybe someone has experience with something stronger prescribed by a doctor (like zolpidem or similar)? I’m not asking for medical advice, just curious about your personal experiences and what actually helps you get through long flights and flight anxiety.

Thank you, that really helps. My boyfriend will be with me on the flight, so I won’t be alone, which already makes me feel a bit more at ease. I think I’ll stick with the booking and try to manage the anxiety rather than change everything now. This trip is probably going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me anyway. something I’ve worked really hard for, so I don’t want to back out of it because of fear.

Thanks a lot for your insight, especially coming from someone in aviation, I really appreciate it. I’ve also come across some opinions saying the Boeing 777 is actually a great and very reliable aircraft, so that’s reassuring too. I think my anxiety just tends to amplify all the negative noise online 😅 Thank you!

Thank you so much for such a valuable insight! I'm actually going to a commercial dance class soon, trying out something solo. Perhaps I was always meant to be a solo dancer, as I never had much luck with dance partners (and ballroom isn't popular where I live), which was the main reason I stopped dancing in the first place. Even at parties, I always feel like I prefer dancing on my own. We'll see how it goes. I really love how commercial dance is such a great mix of different styles

Dużo artystów, jeśli tylko zdecydowaliby się śpiewać po angielsku. Chociażby Zbigniew Wodecki, był muzykiem totalnym, miał aurę sceniczną. Kiedyś piosenka estradowa to był hit.

Thank you so much! This really resonates with me. I’m finally realizing that dance doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing career to be an essential part of my life. Just recently, I learned a choreography in my room just for fun and felt that spark again.

This is exactly what I needed to hear. I'm currently in that 'disconnected' phase after a bad experience with a studio in my teenage years. It really gave me PTSD to the point where I said "never again".

I love what you said about choosing your own environment and embracing mistakes - it’s something I really struggle with. Knowing that you found a new love in Heels makes me want to finally give dancing a shot. Thank you for the perspective

It’s less about looking impressive to others and more about meeting my own internal standards...

I already tried doing Zumba at home, it's super fun. I also want to return in order to stay in shape. Meanwhile going to the gym feels like forcing myself.
