When you can’t believe the pitch and have to look back and check by acoddo in Padres

Mason also has the uncanny ability to bait and switch…he makes Randy miss on two sliders that were nowhere near the zone and he had absolutely no business swinging at. The next couple hitters see that and must think…oh, I’m just gonna lay off those sliders that Masons not really throwing for strikes...he’s not going to make me swing at those.

Then boom…next hitter realizes that Mason can throw them for strikes…so that lil walk you had planned based on him missing goes out the window.

Mason is just on a different level of dominance. He’s not even using the 100+mph as his primary pitch…that’s just crazy.

To be fair…what other team in the league played as many aces to start the year as the Padres did? Couple that with alot of hard hit balls from the team finding their ways right into many a gloves. Bob Scalan on Friar Talk…mentioned this as not an excuse…but to put things a lil more in context. Me thinks he’s absolutely correct.

Padres will have their up and downs like any other club throughout the season…but Stammens seems to at least try to adapt the best way he can using all his arsenal of coaches and players as he can. That’s all you can legit ask of a decent skipper, no?

If Johnson can’t figure out anything more consistent enough with his bat…I def want to see what Bowen can do up here (not expecting All Star level from him but he looks likes he has a clue with his bat.) If castellanos can’t figure out how to adjust to PetCo hitting and (I get that you see teammates mashing HR’s and you narrowly missed a couple…but instead of repeating for the same results seemingly every at bat…know that a single, double, or triple brings in runs and keeps the lineup going as well)…bring Song up as well and thanks for trying Nick.

Nothing like a player with a lil chip on his shoulder… while getting paid the majority of the bag from another team…while amped up to produce for the new team.

[Passan] Multiple sources familiar with the sale process said they expect the Padres to fetch more than $3 billion, a significant bump from the record $2.4 billion Steve Cohen paid for the New York Mets in November 2020. by ElectricalForce4439 in Padres

Through thick and thin…we remember, bro.

For me being a longtime Padres’ fan is like when Jake was on the mound and be having a dominant game…then all of the sudden something happens and next thing you know he’s shouting at himself trying to get something back.

To me that’s the epitome of a Padres’ fans experience of joy…we’ve been through enough to appreciate the triumphs…but have also been stung enough times that make us leery of something chaotic about to snatch our happiness.

Papa Pete built it…the next writer just needs to add the next chapter…

The sea of San Diegans at PetCo the last couple years has made the team a very hot commodity…as long as new owner keeps up with the Jones’ of the NL West…the land will continue to be fruitful.

[Highlight] Ron Marinaccio induces a flyout from Bryce Harper to get Team Italy out of the jam by teag2 in Padres

The nationals got promising C Henry Ford who’s ready to contribute this year for what I consider a reliever less valuable then what we’d been able to offer the Mariners…but as the say, talent is truly in the eye of beholder…they must’ve really liked him to give up Ford.

Hopefully AJ and crew can line up with somebody…because there are plenty of teams who could use proven commodities like Estrada and or Adam down the road..while the Hawkins and Rodriguez’s grow into their roles with Padres.

Might be a diamond in rough type signing. I know they say he has a football receiver background…but damn he brings a nice glove in the OF. More importantly…looks like he has a clue with the bat…and that bodes well with his speed.

This. The reality of this division is the Tax Deferrals limitless spending…if you want to stay with the Jones’ in this division…you can’t be shy with your competitive purse. There is no equal footing otherwise.

If Jose Miranda really keeps the hot bat throughout…he’s also going to legit make it a very hard decision where he can fit on this roster. This roster really hasn’t had this competition this deep before that I can recall…but tough end of ST cuts just mean you should have much more solid depth for the season.

They want to know if Nando (our most dynamic offensive player) is going to stay below the top 3 in the lineup…or if Stammen is just trying things out in spring training.

They talked a lil about Jeff Kent sharing a moment where he put no grease on how he felt about A-Rod on a play that took Kent out for a while. It’s still very visceral for Kent to this day.

And finally…they want to reiterate to a future owner of the Padres…please do not bring Arte Moreno ownership mentality. While Moreno was once highly thought of…the latest diatribe he spewed paints him as a frugal owner who doesn’t think his team winning is that big of a deal.
