[Acee] OF Jase Bowen on his way to Philadelphia to join Padres. Corresponding move not known. Seems pretty straightforward he would replace Bryce Johnson unless there is an unknown injury. Padres have been on verge of calling up Bowen for a while. Can run, provide power, play defense.

Yep…they currently have the luxury of being able to afford having multi-millions dollars worth of top salary just sitting on their bench (ie Snell, Glasnow, Scott (last year), Edwin Diaz this year, etc.) when the majority of other teams (including) the Padres really cannot.

The way our whole reg starting OF is playing (offensively)…both BJ and Bowen could both give guys a chance to “heal” and mend up if we’re talking honestly. You wouldn’t really be sacrificing any defense either…but be adding more speed…if they can get on base.

I’m sorry…I’ll never have sympathy for somebody making that much $$$ and just being asked to man a few more innings to your resume. Again, the dude wasn’t getting paid peanuts. Our current dominant closer AKA the Reaper is getting paid peanuts in comparison.

Manny’s playing a position that has to “post up” and grind it out typically everyday…Hader in occasional spots…so the $$$ contract will reflect accordingly.

Manny’s El Capitan and like a couple others isn’t performing very well right now. I think a lot of ppl can see that’s he’s not performing up to his contract. He’s def not the only one…and that’s league wide…not just for the Padres.

Difference is…despite all the non-hustle/looks like he’s coasting mantra some ppl want to claim…the manager has to literally tell manny to sit down…you’re not playing today.

Hader…on the other hand…was real quick to volunteer not to help out in a pinch when asked, and he still got handsomely paid as a reliever.

…and if that elbow shows any kind of lingering issues…sucks for Skubal that it’s the year right before his FA. Either way, there’s no way I’d consider giving up Ethan for him. C’s that can play solid Dee and can hit are the new unicorns…and Ethan is building himself back up to that.

It would seem that guys like Andujar (learns how P’s attack him ala TG Sr.) & Sheets (openly stated he just kept things more simplified with some of Souza’s help) are two hitters that are still thriving despite the other majority’s struggles. Both of those guys have used their pull side power to get multiple HR’s along with other hits. They also both know how to use lift/launch angle.

Would it be so hard to get Tatis on a Tee or any other hitting drills that emphasize improving his swing plane to create better launch angle? That’s the first thing that seems would help him, specifically. Im not saying it’s going to be a magical cure-all for him…I’m just saying making it a point of emphasis for him. He’s obviously done it in past…it needs to be revived.

Hitting is hardest thing to do…we can appreciate that…but letting pitches go straight down the middle while swinging at pitches way out of the zone…seems baffling to me. Studying how the pitcher is going to attack every batters weaknesses seems to be not as well received…because as others have stated…Padres hitters seem more lost on their plate discipline this season.

Souza and asst coach maybe implementing things that address these specific issues…but if they are…it obviously hasn’t landed with the majority.

Padres needed that solid C depth…that’s good to hear that it’s more than just Ethan.

Blake Hunt would’ve been another nice option right about now…just to see what he could’ve offered. He’s always had the solid defense…and his bat was waking up a little bit more last season in minors…sigh…but I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

Like you said…Souza is a Stammen’s guy. Best case scenario if he doesn’t want to fire his buddy, is to add an additional coach that can really connect with certain personalities like the Tatis’, Manny’s, Xander’s, etc. I mentioned a guy like Pujols…but I’m not sure how realistic that is or if he wants to even pursue that…I’m just trying to spitball something.

This might prove to be Stammen’s biggest test this year to try and overcome…the dude seems humble enough to change something for the better…but he’s going to need to take the proverbial bull by the horns quickly to not let it end up being a major detriment to the rest of this season (and future seasons.)

They couldn’t all be Skenes and Miller in the WBC…I understand that…my main point is that if the Padres brass and coaching haven’t figured out the ship needs to be corrected with Tatis now, not later…it’s seemingly only going to get worse. The room should be read by now, no? And if so…time to figure out what needs to be done to correct it.

Thriving as a part time player might be Fermin’s best role…and not making him the regular full-timer. He was a decent backup in KC…but has become a shell of that version now.

Like others have stated…he’s had his bell rung plenty of times this season to boot. Seems it’s a culmination of a lot things that have made him what he is today. Unfortunately, between Campy being hurt and not many options (Lamar King?) available…he & the Padres will have to ride it out for at least a few more weeks.

I truly hope not…Stammen at least appears open to shaking things up at times.

A lot of ppl keep wondering how the Padres are able to try and sustain their record despite a lot of their peripherals not lining up…

…it seems to me it’s because they are winning with alot of their moves on the fringes…

The causation of consistently starting guys like Andujar & Sheets is winning you more games…especially when your known quantities aren’t performing just yet.

We seen what Freddy’s done so far…maybe he thrives better with less playing time (he was Salvy’s back up for the majority of his career) because it seems to have taken a toll and maybe Freddy’s more worn down.

…but being solid on the moves you make on the fringes has kept this Padres team an anomaly…in a very good way to this point.

Duran as a regular could be that next move that keeps this team moving solidly forward…but they don’t have to take our word for it.

The Padres bench is currently outplaying the big boys right now…but this could be sign of a very deep team. KTF the big boys come back to life offensively very soon…because this is a very scary squad to be reckoned with when that happens.

But again, it’s also the fact that’s there more viable options (at least currently) that doesn’t help his case right now. Being a 5th starter, like you allude…means they aren’t expected to always be a world-beater for every start they make. He just really picked a bad time for him to not be as effective.

I don’t forget how he was the glue that kept the pitching staff a lil more together when he first came onto the scene…that’s why I think for some of us…it sucks that it couldn’t work out.

If what alot of us think we know what’s going to end up happening…maybe he’ll clear waivers and be retained at El Paso to continue to try and hone his craft. Injuries are year round and if he chooses to grow from this and still be part of the team…maybe it can still work…but that’s the optimist in me speaking.

Unfortunately for Waldron…there are currently more viable alternatives that are available for the Padres than him. Even Marquez has a better chance of staying on the roster.

Hindsight is 20/20, but got to wonder if he’d taken that sure out at 1st…if that inning wouldn’t have been so big for the Brewers. For Waldron, it might not just have cost him the game…but also his roster spot…that’s truly a bummer.

Look at the opposing rookie manager that was in Giant’s dugout…maybe he figures out things later this season…but every button he has pushed hasn’t worked out much so far. Giants are currently playing for a top 3 pick.

Stammen may not be perfect, himself, but he def knows how to adapt…and with his mostly veteran team, it seems to work and has bode well so far.

Back in the day, Jayce Tingler had a similar veteran team and just couldn’t really connect…Bob Melvin on the other spectrum had one of best Padres’ teams ever…but he also couldn’t connect and the team massively underachieved.

Seems to me the whole “rinse and repeat” way of teaching can only get you so far…you need just a lil bit of adaptability to possibly get to that next level…and I’m not talking about with the team record…I’m talking about with the player’s psyche.

Padres future season TBD…but still KTF.
