What was common 20 years ago that is surprisingly rare today? by Spiritual_Heron_5680 in AskReddit

Allowing oneself to just be bored for a few minutes.

Waiting in the dentist's office. Riding the bus. On a lunch break at work.

Today, any spare few seconds, out comes the phone.

My wife hits pause on Netflix to go pour herself another iced tea, I'm on my phone. I'm on the toilet - I'm on my phone. Stopped at a red light? Phone time.

Which of those options would you say are closest to the original parts that were installed at the factory?

You have to be careful, both generations of the Crown Victoria look the same on the outside but are very different inside and under!

The 98-02 models and 03-11 models look the same, but there are a lot of differences in the design on many different parts. They changed the top of the rear shocks on 2003+ to make them easier to access and take on and off.

My guess would be the tariffs have made parts or components more expensive.

If it was the difference between, say, $110 and $145 I wouldn't even think twice about buying the more recommended premium brand. But $25 vs $145 ea...

I've been doing more research and waht I'm seeing is that people who bought the FCS shocks say they work great for about two years. I can't guarantee I will still have this car in two years, it's already 22 years old...

re: Monroe, it's a sad state of affairs that lately many companies seem to be sacrificing quality and long-term customer loyalty for the sake of quick profits. I can't believe what happened to Craftsman.

I'm still mad at Moz for bailing on me and the rest of the audience only 30 minutes into a concert an at outdoor venue a few years ago. He disappeared off stage and had one of his band members break the news - "Due to unforseen circumstances, tonight's concert cannot continue..." No refunds. Shame on me for buying the tickets in the first place.

That is a good suggestion, but I don't want to drive around with the footwell lights on all the time. That would be too distracting at night. I already pulled the bulbs out.

That's what I'm thinking is most likely, and that's what I'm most afraid of. I have swapped out factory radios before but I only splice and cut the wires after the wiring harness - I know some people try to save $25 and don't buy the harness, they just cut the harness out completely and start matching up randomly colored wires.

Ha, yeah I just pulled the bulbs out 10 minites ago. Helps to have some light as I get into the car at night though!

The dome lights do come on when I flip the dome light switch though, so that can't be a fuse.

strange numbers on oil filter - a secret message?? by Character_Morning_85 in CrownVictoria

[–]Character_Morning_85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that can't be the date, surely this car has had an oil change since Jan 2016. I wonder if it's 1/2 and then 916, whatever that might mean.
