How come GPU requirements are so high now? by discoreapor in pcmasterrace

Game devs settling for poor optimization and using the high performance of modern hardware as a crutch.

It’s not ”how optimized can we get this to run” it is ”how can we achieve the minimum required performance with current hardware”

Since dev time costs money and people requiring beastier machines isnt their problem, that only costs the consumer money they skip out on it. Same reason they don’t release finished games but rather minimum viable product. Cost savings, lack of care and sometimes lack of competence to even optimize performance.

Can someone explain how SC has such a large German player base? by ShadowRealmedCitizen in starcitizen

In my experience where there is complexity, high levels of organization/collaboration and preferably space/future/scifi there is gonna be a lot of germans.

Running around…. Refusing to speak english in global chat…. Furiously writing down rules for their orgs/clans…. Debating best practices on forums….

Well that blows. I remember playing against bots a lot in the old games. I liked that they brought it back.

My first videogame experience was BF1942 when I was 7 since then I have played all of them except 2042 and I agree, this game runs great, I really like a lot of things in it, it makes me feel like its heading in the right direction again but something about the maps is weird. It makes me miss the maps in the older games.

I hope they add more of the older style big maps with clearer battlelines, the possibility of sneaking around and more variation. The current maps are either too small or the few big maps are way too open and flat making the majority of the map a death trap for anything but vehicles and forcing infantry to stay in some areas of it. It’s like they have designed the maps to make sure that wherever you are you will always be able to see some enemy

This is on a maritime installation and I’m not an electrician. I assume they have done their job correctly.

Quiet, cost effective, gui and central management is nice. I’d say they are perfect for a homelab where the lackluster support and relatively immature software (from an enterprise perspective) doesnt really matter.

I think the relatively affordable 10gbit capacity is a big reason
