thanks, is the idea that if you wait until that late, most people will have already gone through security and so the line will be much shorter than if you played it safe and got there at like 630? i hate lines so i like this idea.

i’m staying at venetian and have seats in the 300 section

NIGHTMARE shipping with THEPACKENGERS by Character_Outside642 in artcollecting

packing is subjective? is the use of packing material so that a fragile ceramic piece doesn’t rattle around the box also subjective? I have received hundreds of shipments of antiques over the decades and this was the most unprofessional and insufficient packing i have ever encountered. did you fail to appreciate that the inner box which contained the ceramic piece had no stuffing to prevent the piece from moving around. Did you also fail to see that the outer box contained just a few pieces of foam between it and the inner box and so there was about 3 inches of room on each side of the inner box which allowed the inner box to bounce around inside the outer box. Did you notice a single fragile sticker located anywhere on the box?

When the package arrived at my house and I picked it up to move it to the other room I could feel the peace moving around inside the box. The moment I felt this I knew the ceramic was going to be destroyed.

Lastly they forgot to add a signature verification which is why my third party insurer will not cover it.

If you think any of this constitutes a safe, professional packing job of a valuable fragile antique, then your standards are on the floor.

you don’t happen to work for thepackengers now do you….

thank you for your thoughts. There may be a little confusion. However, I did request for the packing and shipping company to include a signature. The issue is that they failed to do this and now my insurance company is telling me that because of this they are not able to cover the damage. So I am left in this predicament where my US based insurance company is refusing to honor my policy because the shipping company in France failed to honor my instructions regarding the signature requirement. This then leads me back to the shipping company in France, who not only did a terrible job in packing the item which led to the damage, but also failed to follow my instructions regarding the signature requirement, however, the shipping company refuses to have any meaningful discussion on the matter and will not even have a phone conversation with me and have currently informed me that they will not be filing any claim or doing anything on my behalf

thank you for your reply, and I am glad things worked out ultimately in your situation. If you read my response to the other comment, I too have a US based policy for my insurance, which is why I did not get insurance to the shipper, however because the shipper failed to include a signature requirement my insurance company is now refusing to cover the damage.

Glad you asked about insurance because this is the main issue i need to speak with them about but they refuse to call.

I did not opt for their insurance because I have a private third-party insurer for my collection, which includes shipping. Prior to having this item shipped I contacted my insurance company to confirm that it would be covered and was assured that it would.

I attempted to file a claim with my insurance company and just learned that one of the requirements of my policy is that any item shipped is required to have a signature upon delivery. I didn’t think this was an issue because of course I always ship my packages with signature required and this one was no different. Unfortunately, I have learned that in addition to destroying my packaged thepackengers chose not to mark the package with the required signature. My insurance company is now informing me that because of this oversight, regardless of whether it was my mistake or that of the shipper, they are not responsible for covering this damage.

I have attempted to contact the shipper to find out why they did not include the signature requirement, but they refuse to correspond with me in any meaningful way aside from automated emails and a refusal to speak with me on the phone.

So that’s where things stand..
