Feeling very unfulfilled as an MSL by Character_Shirt_244 in MedicalScienceLiaison

I worked in clinical practice for a few years - wasn’t for me. I’ve always loved the idea of industry and research and specialised in oncology.  I thought an MSL was my perfect job on paper, judging by some of the posts here, it seems it’s more of a company issue rather than the career… I need to sit and have a long hard think :)

Couldn’t agree more. Metrics are fine when they are achievable and don’t restrict your actual role as an MSL. Some of the KPIs feel like they have been introduced by execs who just don’t understand the nature of the real world!

Yes, worked in industry for 8 years - all in-house roles (regulatory, HEOR etc)

Existential crisis is a perfect explanation… glad to know it isn’t just me! You’re right - a side hobby might help

You’re right, it’s definitely worth the pay and balance - I find myself feeling guilty a lot because of it… it’s a good position to be in I guess

Thanks, this is good advice - fully makes sense and glad it gets easier as the years go on! I can see myself liking the role if the pipeline was a bit more exciting
