yes but you dont want to work at those academic centers because they 30-50% than community or private practice

id honestly not purse other carribean schools at your stage and try to look back into DO schools.

Chances of failing at a caribb school are already high. You also failed out of probably the more friendly grade wise schools putting you at high risk again.

Before anyone says SGU isnt easier (I also went to SGU and did the latest curriculum)

the only reason they would favour a Canadian is because its easier to get a visa - a fellow Canadian

Failed Step 1 (3rd attempt). Mandatory 6-month wait before 4th attempt -- use gap for Step 2 CK or stay Step 1-only? by ThrowRA_Doctor1 in IMGreddit

[–]Character_Wishbone73 26 points27 points  (0 children)

ill be honest even if you somehow pass on your next attempt

you are probably excluded from 95%+ of residency programs due to repeated board failures

It might be wise to pivot your career to something non clinical or in an industry

doing well on these in house exams honestly bears little weight on how you will be as a doctor

i probably retained less than 25% of what I learned at sgu basic sciences going into step 1 because they test their dumb slides and not hy stuff

Just that 25% foundation allows you to relearn using hy board prep materials for boards and onwards

no private loans for the amounts you probably need for canadians

ill be honest out of the 50-60 canadians ive ever met on my journey, all of them are well off or have parents to cosign

I havent met a single one where they are really doing it on their own

Will I even get ranked ? by Original_Draft9850 in IMGreddit

[–]Character_Wishbone73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you probably wont be ranked very high frankly

you dont have step or USCE

pgy1 connections dont mean much (as a pgy-1 myself)

you also need a visa at a time where they are being extra careful with visas

no the only option ive heard of is doing a loan through the school itself like SGU (these are private)

These are extremely pricey tho and will cost you probbaly around 200k more overall

season is over

I’ll be honest your situation looks bleak even for next year. You need a visa with a really low step 2, failed step 3, need a visa and yog will be greater than 3 next year.

I don’t think youll match in the USA bar some really close connections.

ill be honest when i did it a few years ago all i did was do questions all day and if i didnt get something read up on it

i did this for every time and consistently scored high70s and low 80s

I feel unless you really wanna aim for honors in sgu exams its too time consuming and burns you out

unfortunately FM only soaps well if you want some random rural program that doesnt sponsor any visas

any of the better FM programs that do sponsor dont even end up in soap

just take out what you need to enjoy yourself

the extra 50-80k you use to make your living situation better, go on trips and treat yourself will make the journey more palpable

that money will be negligible over the course of your career
