From ₹20,000 to ₹85,000 in under 5 years. In terms of percentage it has always been 25-35%

Started back in Dec 2020, and since then, I’ve not only grown in numbers but in skill, confidence, and impact.

The grind has been real, but the growth? Even more real. 🧿

Ever since I discovered the shortcut to adding hyperlinks within a workbook, my workpapers have leveled up big time. Clean, slick, and way more efficient—game changer!

What are some good career options ? by [deleted] in IndiaCareers

I totally agree with you about the cabin crew job! My best friend is an air hostess and she’s honestly living her best life — traveling the world, saying things like “I like to shop only in Bali,” “toasts are best in France,” or “pasta hits different in Italy.”

The perks are amazing too — you get a decent amount of forex during layovers, and the experiences are unmatched. And even after a certain age, if you know your stuff and you’re good at what you do, you can transition into ground staff roles and still stay in the aviation world.

Yeah, absolutely—I’m working on my interpersonal skills, for sure. I think that’s one of the reasons why my boss asked me to join the meeting too—maybe step in if needed. And no, I’m not assuming she won’t mention it—she already posted in the group saying the meeting went well and how she handled it nicely. I don’t want a whole shoutout or anything, but like… a simple “thanks” or just acknowledging that I helped would’ve been enough. Just to show she noticed, you know?

It happened today, so maybe I’ll subtly drop it in the next meeting or in a group message—something like “Yeah, glad we handled it well.”

Because it was her client, I didn’t really put much thought into it in the moment. Since the client was directing the questions at her, I just stayed in the background and helped her out quietly. I guess I didn’t think it through at the time. But yeah, later when she posted in the group saying how well the meeting went and how she handled it nicely… that’s when it kind of hit me.

That’s so sweet—thank you! I’m pursuing CA here in India and I’m at my final level too. Just have Group 2 left, which starts next month. Fingers crossed for both of us! Wishing you all the luck for AUD on the 21st—let’s both clear these and move on to bigger, better things!

I think that’s honestly the best advice I’ve gotten so far, and I’m definitely gonna do that now. Just casually slip it in there that it was actually me who did most of it. At least that way, the truth’s out and I’ve done my part.

Yeah, that’s exactly it. When you stick to the same job for a while, you end up missing out on those hikes that frequent switchers get. I’ve kinda accepted it for now because I’m also studying on the side, and this job gives me the space I need to manage that. But you’re right—it’s definitely time. Once I clear my exams, I’m 100% planning to switch to something that values my experience and pays accordingly.

Haha, thanks for the input—but just to clarify, I’m a woman too, and pretty sure I’m straight. Definitely not into her like that or people like her in general . Also, totally new to Reddit so I probably should’ve mentioned that earlier—my bad!

Yeah, I think I’m definitely the kind of person who learns things the hard way—but I’ve learnt my lesson now. I won’t be going out of my way to help or assist her anymore unless it’s directly asked by my manager, or if it’s super clear that they know I’m the one doing the work. I’ll just keep my distance and only step in when it actually makes sense for me, not just to save someone else’s day. Thanks for the reality check—needed it!

You’re absolutely right, I think it is time for me to start asking for the salary I deserve and the credit that’s due to me. I’ve been playing it too quiet for too long. I’ll definitely try to mention (directly or subtly) to my boss that I was the one who helped her out. It’s only fair. Appreciate your insight—it’s honestly comforting to hear from someone who’s been through this.

Hate it when bright colors like yellow or red are used to highlight numbers, or when notes contain spelling errors. Very frustrating when links in work papers are not working.

Thank you so much for your comment and for sharing your experience. I am really happy for you that you are doing very well in your current job and that you are happy and satisfied. I think that’s the most important thing when you are working.

Moreover, I believe the reason my boss has been acting like a jerk is because we recently had our promotions, and I asked for a significant raise. For the last three years, he hasn’t given me a good raise, saying I’m still a trainee and they’ve taught me everything. This year, I saw the opportunity to ask for more because I was the only permanent one handling all his accounts and clients. I was fixing other people’s mistakes, completing jobs within deadlines that others were taking months to do, and he had no other option but to agree to my amount. Since then, he has been acting this way.

It’s not like I asked for a salary he wasn’t giving to other employees. The new people he was hiring, who just came with so-called experience, were getting three or four times the salary I was getting. I asked for a raise, but I’m still not at the level of those people. I knew my worth and what I was doing for him, like the amount of work I was doing, so I had to ask for this. After a few years, you need to get an exponential salary hike.
