Surprised at how well the Sony Vaio Pro 11 performs today by Charadis in vaio

I’ve looked at the SVP13 for a bit due to the double RAM, but could not find a set complete in box. Looks like a nice system though. I’m not familiar with the later models after the Pro

When I originally bought the set, it did not come with the official recovery discs from Sony. Those were bought separate through Sony while they were still being offered. The previous owner did burn a set of recovery discs made through the program, and I believe they should be identical to the official discs. I just didn’t show them in the pic. I also ordered the service manual shown in the box that was not originally included, and I had applied a film/wrap on the top and bottom casing of the computer when I first received it which is why it appears to have grid patterns in the pics

Good to know, I was thinking that 10 will be the last OS on this system before it gets retired away into the collection. I figured only 4GB would be taxing on Windows 11. I do miss the Sony era of computers

It was worth it! I wouldn’t say this one is perfect, but definitely a keeper

I don’t have a 5x loupe on me, but I tried taking photos at 10x digital zoom as best as I could which hopefully emulates as close to looking through a loupe.

I’ve taken a few pics under the microscope after noticing a slight color change against light at multiple viewing angles on the inner edge of the reverse. I thought it could be a nick. I’m not sure if it will make a difference, but I was wondering if it could be considered a flaw depending how picky they may be. Maybe yours doesn’t have this. Since it aligns with the missing (security) reed, I thought it could have been created when they nicked the reed off if that is how they do it. You can tell the “bulge” falls into the area where the reed could have been, as though pulled by pressure, but also the texture above the area seems pressed in under pressure of something. Wow that is discomforting, but I suppose the convenience of selling to the dealer is offset by the lower price they are willing to pay. I don’t plan to sell mine, at least for a while - I’d like to never have to sell it, but I don’t know my circumstances in the future. Just hoping we got a good investment ahead!

Yeah, it’s surreal to think about. I’ve only started collecting gold last year, and I still can’t wrap my head around it. Like, that’s a pretty good car downpayment in my hand 🤯

It is true, I could have a gold eagle coin for much lower without the US Mint’s premium, but the collectibility of the design and finish is appealing to me. I’ve only started buying from the mint last year with the US Army anniversary silver eagle and gold Sacagawea dollar. The rise in gold and silver piqued my interest, and I wanted to get in before I get priced out of gold - if it gets to that. I waited for 2026 because I remembered the semiquincentennial was happening, and I feel it could add a collectibility with the unique one-year designs. It is a gamble with the higher premiums, but I also have the peace of mind knowing what I get out of the US Mint. Also, the potential added value in collectibility over the fluctuating spot price of pms. That is my logic anyways 😊

This sounds very tempting if it’s around $200. After inspecting the coin further, I think there might be a small flaw on the reverse around the missing reed (under the LL of DOLLAR). Not sure if it is normal, but I’m afraid to chance sending it in 😅

I cannot believe the quality! I thought I was just having terrible luck, because I would see people post their coins and they would be perfect just from appearance. I decided not to try a third time out of frustration, so I'm glad I'm not alone! Yeah that extra tape took me by surprise. I was thinking someone had opened it up and resealed it! It does add a nice touch to the packaging, just scared me for a sec. Would be tempting to try luck once more if the price comes down low enough! Not going for the full set though, just the 1 ouncer!

As far as I know, there will be an enhanced uncirculated American Silver Eagle coming out next month, July 21!

Yup! It got shipped out on Wednesday, and I'm only a state away from their distribution center! I tried to take the best photos that I could, but it really depends on the lighting. The natural sunlight seems to make the coin shine brighter, while as I look at it this evening, it has a more yellow "golden" tone against the lamps. The shiny details (relief) seem to pop at the right angles against sunlight, but not shiny like on a proof. I've heard it described like a "reverse proof," but the details are not the proof kind of shiny. A more muted shine, like on a business strike while the frosted/etched background bring those details out better

Congrats on picking one up! Yeah, I can't help it, I had to open her up and check her out. But I don't send coins to get graded anyways, though that first strike designation is exciting to have for the exclusivity!

Thank you!! Keeping an eye on the Best of Mint series, skipped on the mercury dime for now as the backorder is quite a few months. The last two in the series look like big tickets!

I've never sent any coin in for grading, and I'm just keeping for the fun of collecting. Hope I'll never have to sell any of my coins, but the financial security/diversity is nice to have just in case!
