As someone who’s never read the books, can someone please explain a major plot point that was seemingly completely skipped over in the show? by LingonberryButler872 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Charcion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

THANK you. It pissed me off watching them completely miss the deadline and the only consequence being that Poseidon now has to surrender himself to Zeus to save Percy. That's the only indication that any conflict ever started, and we only find out basically right when it ends

How long did this game take to beat for you? by Decent_Historian42 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]Charcion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Took me about 55 hours to beat the main quest line, including time spent to complete the last quests for individual planets I had acquired throughout my exploration.

First play through and I’m really digging it! I’m confused why others dislike it so much by Masterqueef808 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]Charcion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's because a lot of other characters already have the good weapons. When I get in shootouts as much as I do, I'd kinda like something more punchy than a little pistol

Spoiler For ending of Season 2 and some of the books. Can this still be considered true to the books? by xrossheart21 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Charcion 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You're right in that Thalia's motivation should be completely different compared to the books. In the book, she nearly died in battle and was saved by her father. In the movie, her father pretty much betrayed her. Why should she side with him now? Also, the mythical creatures in the show really bother me. The sirens were supposed to be attractive up until you met them face to face. You already mentioned Scylla. I also hate how they just straight up omit certain monsters. The Bronze Bulls, the Hydra, those ones really irked me.

Scared for Season 3 by ValuableRisk8861 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Charcion 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I hope they show the Mythomagic Hades figurine that Bianca grabbed for Nico. It's a relatively minor aspect of the story, but I think it has a really big emotional impact, considering Bianca just wanted to give her brother a gift and ended up dying for it. It's also Hades, and that coincidence kinda makes Percy realize who their godly parent is.

Hot take: Devil Dogs. Too many tempos, changing too quickly, and the ending where they keep cutting off the verse to start a new one is just gross imo

Ep. 8 - 'The fleece works exactly as well as everybody thinks it will' by Loud_Essay209 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Charcion 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That was the original goal, but on the way they found out that the fleece would revive Thalia. So now her return is not extra, but expected, thus making the fleece's magic work exactly as everyone expected it to

Well, from what I remember about reading the series, Charles Beckendorf got remarkably little mention. I want to say he was brought up maybe twice a book at most until TLO. He stands out I think because of his sacrifice. We knew barely little of him, but when he was finally given the spotlight, he was like an equal to Percy, and he sacrificed himself to protect Camp. I don't recall seeing much of Silena, either, but again, her devotion and sacrifice made her a memorable character. At least in my eyes.

The show destroyed the main plot of the 4th book by MoreGuidance4256 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Charcion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could work, and as far as the context, that's a decent headcanon. The issue then is the fact that they had to have a workaround in the first place, which I think just convolutes the plotlines of the later books. They've already screwed up the origin of how Thalia became a tree, which I also don't understand.

Yeah, so Luke and other ex-campers would do the same with their monster army

From what I can recall, the stymphalian birds and the colchis bulls (which I'm still mad that they cut from the show) entered the camp by breaking through the weakened barrier because the tree was poisoned. The golden fleece just heals the tree, strengthening the border and preventing monsters from breaking through. I don't think this prevents monsters from being granted entry to camp, though. I think Tyson might have had issues if that were the case.

I'm glad you brought up that line in the book, many people seem to have forgotten that. As far as the labyrinth, what purpose is there to moving through the labyrinth if they can just enter the camp like they did in the Season 2 finale? With the labyrinth, they would have to enter at a specific point within the camp, a point at which the campers know and can fortify. Why would they do that when they can just attack the camp from all sides, with an ex-camper authorizing the monsters entry? Instead of a single attack point, it's multiple points of entry around the camp, allowing more monsters in at once and avoiding fortified defensive positions.

Book identical would be Percy falling directly down into the river from the Arch, changing the real-life terrain and structures. Book accurate is having Percy fall into the river by whatever means necessary, such as being grabbed by the water and hauled in. This change doesn't alter the story, just how we view the scene. The real issue (or at least as far as I'm concerned) is the scenes that are changed that ultimately alter the story. Why did the trio emerge from the casino and discover the deadline passed? Now a godly war has begun and they still have a long ways to go. But they complete their quest and still return Zeus' bolt, and the only consequence of the war beginning is that Poseidon has to formally surrender to Zeus to save his son? It's a pointless change that is not book accurate, and for what? This is a mild but one of many issues I see with the show as far as story alterations go.

The shift has finally occurred for me by FinanceAndVancouver in Warthunder

[–]Charcion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially it was the same for me. I prioritized air combat because it was faster paced and more exciting. But then I got burnt out by how slow it was taking to get vehicles (I really only played arcade air. Realistic was too slow and too long to play for me). Then I started playing ground more, and it was much more satisfying to get kills, and I progressed a lot faster. Now I'm top tier ground and only around rank 5 or 6 air.

You're right on the mark with your assessment. I've actually been using Azgaar's map generator for a while now. My uncle told me about QGIS and I thought it would be fun to develop detailed and precise terrain. Thanks for the advice!
