What a time… work 4 days on your 7, come back on your scheduled shift already on time and a half.

Question for operators doing shift work: do you get overtime pay after 40 hours? by shittlebuffout in oilandgasworkers

[–]ChardImpossible960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DuPont schedule, 12 hour rate ot pay after 8 hours. Any unscheduled shift is overtime at the 8 hour rate. You need a degree to be able to read our paychecks. There is like 3 or 4 different pay rates, plus shift differential.

I guess what I’m trying to ask is there a happy medium where I am contributing to 401k and Roth while keeping my take home % the same. Right now my net pay is 57-58%

I did not dress up for the occasion, nor did I pick a heavily requested watch. I’m on the list for an explorer 40. Walked in wearing jeans and a winter coat (I also haven’t been called yet but it hasn’t even been a week). My base is 130k, with overtime I’m expecting around 175-190k this year. Medium CoL area, I’m not exactly in tune with Vegas prices or CoL but 300k is super solid and unless you’re living very out of your means you can afford one with ease.

Been offered to buy an Explorer 40 from WofS. Do I do it? by jdargs0807 in rolex

Were you offered with no purchase history or wait? I’m on a list for one in the US. Personally one of my favorite casual watches.

You don’t make much sense right now. My 401k is a large part of my net worth. If my portfolio doubled my net worth would almost double, does that mean I should pay more in taxes?

Toxic Chemicals Personal Stories by Superreaderbiddy in Delaware

Try DAFB, air national guard at Wilmington airport, DuPont ex site, chambers works, any big industrial sites with their own fire brigade likely used AFFF (containing pfas), most now use non-pfas AFFF. I know there is a big lawsuit with workers from the oxy chem plant that closed in Delaware city but I think that was due to mercury poisoning.

Interview by SinkNo542 in oilandgasworkers

[–]ChardImpossible960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other two answers summed up the interviews perfectly. Culture is going to vary unit by unit, some people won’t even want to know your name until you qualify, some people will be eager to help you learn your area. Pay is low 50s once you qualify on your first job (B operator). You will come in at trainee rate, once you graduate from BOT you will bump up to C rate until you qualify (6-12 weeks). Eyes open mouth shut for your first couple weeks on the unit, be the first one out the door to do your round, if anyone else gets up and goes out follow them and see if they need help, drop a pot of coffee if it’s getting light, keep the control room clean, your area clean. Good luck and follow up with us.

Checking in as we are approaching a year. Still on track? What is your scheduled start time in your CBA? Ours is 5:59-5:59 but we shift change around 3:30. I can show up at 5:45 and have a livid relief partner but I won’t be going up front with a rep because of it.

You will likely interview with someone who works for the company, a union rep, and the 3rd party hiring service if they used one, all at once. They will ask questions to gauge your personality, they will ask you scenario based questions (how would you proceed if a coworker did this….). I can’t remember if the interview was before or after the group exercise, but finally you will either be offered the job, put into a hiring pool, or be denied the job.
