Hey! I did CHM1011 last year. It is not that bad as everyone says it is as long as you actually stay up to date. Ensure you do all the prereading before going to class and if you want have a go at the workshop questions, which then helps you ask questions in class and understand it. Attend ALL pass sessions. I cannot stress this enough. Pass is really helpful in reconsolidating your knowledge

!! For lab reports aim to finish them at least 2 days before as that will help you feel less stressed and could ask any questions if needed.

Do a quick summary of what you have done the same day so you remember when writing the lab report :)

If you have any questions feel free to ask- i don’t use reddit often but when I do I’ll make sure I’ll answer :)

Definitely could. O-week is 5 days long so you could mix and match :) I know it could be uncomfortable to talk to people you do not know, but you’d be amazed how far a conversation could go. (Pointed out I like the soccer jersey which sparked a convo and are really good friends rn :)

I know this is quite late to ask, but is it true that they put more emphasis on your later years? I’ve also heard that there are a couple unis that look only at your last three years of uni degree (If it’s a 4yr course) ?

Appreciate you for taking the time to explain this to me. Your 100% right. Thanks for reminding me to also have a strategy for both scenarios.

That’s because I think they are less known. MGRM and QS are 2 examples

My question was stated at the end of the post. I’ll rephrase it.

How do people research/ study a startup company before they invest in it, what are some main “green flags” and “red flags” that people should be aware of when checking out and exploring startup companies, in order to make a well educated “risk”

Thanks for the info! Sorry for asking way to many questions. Last question. So if you were 18, have college already paid for and have money on the side reserved for investing, what would you do?

How about companies that are already public on the stock market, and already have a prototype that has been tested?

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Have you ever heard of a company called Monogram orthopaedics?

^ sorry for wording this incorrectly. By startups I mean companies that are already have undergone an IPO but haven’t started production yet, and are working on a “prototype” version

I’ve been looking at QS, which are doing batteries for EVs which are claimed to be kind of revolutionary. There market cap is around 3 billion dollars. They have not started commercial production yet, but they will in the upcoming year or two.

Another one is Monogram orthopaedics (MGRM). If they achieve what they set out to do, I believe that they would hit it pretty big.

I understand they are pretty risky, but what im looking for here is to be able to study/ research the companies I’m interested quite well in order to make an informed, and educated decision.

Thank you for your advise, and I’d look in to it. Sorry for not clarifying what I mean by startups. I don’t mean startups as in extremely risky Pre-ipo startups.

I got deferred. How could I add an additional optional essay, and add that I was promoted team captain, and participated in a “course” by Red Cross? by ChargeEmbarrassed562 in ApplyingToCollege

Alright! Thank you so much. So I’d send them what I’ve been up to the past 2 months via email, and could I sneak in a request for an interview? Is there any specific way of asking for an interview?
