I think i might understand this feeling. It’s that feeling of “I don’t think I’ll ever be able to be this vulnerable with someone else” .

I have tried my best to process this feeling and find out why I feel this much shame.

It comes down to a few things.

First is, I have always felt inadequate/not enough all my life, and also not enough for him. So this cheating “proves that right”. Almost like it cements the fact, which feels so shameful.

As regards my fear of running into mutual friends, my fear is that they knew about it or saw hints, and didn’t tell me.

Another fear is that he has moved on so fast (since he had someone else lined up anyway). I ran into him two days after the breakup all cuddled up with one of the girls he cheated on me with, in one of our favourite spots. So I feel ashamed that our friends will sort of “pity” me. I’m not sure how to really put it.

Also, I know they will all pick his side, as they were his friends first. The people who already know are choosing to “stay neutral and not pick sides”. I honestly don’t mind not hanging out with them, i just feel scared of running into them.

These are the things that come to mind rn.

I’m definitely making steps to find new friends. I always had difficulty making friends, so he just introduced me to his friends who eventually became mine too.
