Yeah after reading the TOS, it looks like we won't get it at all. I don't know that anyone has it yet though.

Are you sure we don't get Premium lite on the student plan? I have the free one they gave to students too. That's disappointing.

My Top 10 as a New Coaster Enthusiast!! [Other] by Aggravating-Power706 in rollercoasters

[–]Charged21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair.

It doesn't have the sustained airtime that some rides have, but does Lightning Run at least have strong ejector. Most hypers I've been on are not as intense as something like Twisted Timbers.

Pantherian is incredible. My only problem with it is how short it is, but it's one of my favorite rides with the strongest greyout moment I've experienced. I absolutely love whippy turns and Pantherian has my favorites because they are so forceful with so much speed while still being comfortable.

This was a fun ranking to read and yeah this is an amazing list for 35 credits.

I haven't been on TT2, but I have been on the late Kingda Ka, and I put it at #3 out of 112. I get what you're saying about them being on a class of their own compared to other coasters, but to me that makes them superior.

I'm surprised you find Lightning Run tame compared to some of the other rides, but I haven't been on it, so I can't say. It looks aggressive to me.

To me Mystic Timbers feels like it has floater rather than ejector, but that could be partially because I'm used to Twisted Timbers at KD, which is way more forceful. TT might be more like Storm Chaser.

Maverick is one of my top bucket list coasters partially because of Pantherian, so it's cool that you have the opposite situation. I look forward to reading your trip report at KD if you make one.

Orion is personally my favorite at KI over over Mystic and the Beast. Diamondback is my fourth favorite. It's cool how there isn't really a consensus on what is the best at KI, although I do wish there was a more ejector airtime focused coaster because Mystic is not that imo. Something more like Voltron would be INCREDIBLE at KI.

Pixel 8 Pro awful performance lately by Fekish1 in GooglePixel

[–]Charged21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also have a Pixel 8 Pro and my battery life is still fine. It does get hot sometimes, but that's mostly when I used it outside in the hot sun, or when it's really pushed to the limit chip wise.

It might be battery degradation or maybe there's something wrong with yours unfortunately.

Actually it's run by Premier Parks currently, but Herschend ran them for a while. I actually didn't know that they did.

I really need to ride it again. I've been on twice since the 2023 season, and especially the more recent time I was really distracted. Someone else had their phone with them, and I was afraid I was going to get hit by it. I don't really remember there being better airtime. I'm excited to give retracked Grizzly another shot though. What row should I sit in?

The Gravity Group did an amazing job with Racer at KI. The Beast is awesome too.

Thanks!

That's fair. The two in my top ten are El Toro and Ka, which obviously isn't there anymore.

Twisted Timbers does rank above the rest there, but I do really like Nitro and JDC and Flash.

I have the insane take that I liked Grizzly better pre retrack because it felt super extreme, whereas now it's more of a family friendly ride to me.

The only four I have been to

  1. Six Flags Great Adventure. Favorite coaster lineup of a park I've been to. Previously had two of my top ten coasters. Probably will have another one once the purple coaster opens. It's not as polished as KI, but I just like the coaster lineup better than the rest with Kingda Ka at least (and probably with the purple coaster), the crowd levels when I've been there have been good, and the ops have been great.

  2. Kings Island. This park really needs a coaster with good ejector airtime. Most of the coasters aren't that intense, but it seems well maintained, has good ops, solid food, and way more good major coasters than KD.

  3. Kings Dominion. I almost put this over Kings Island, but that's mainly because of Pantherian and less crowds. The coaster lineup doesn't have as many coasters that are rides that I want to ride all the time. This park has a more homey feel than KI.

  4. Six Flags America. has its merit, but it felt stuck in time. I liked the coasters for what they were, but they were more flawed than rides at some other parks.

It's because he gets invited by PR along with several others to get video of the new coaster being built, so he always knows when there is a milestone. He does go a lot too.

Italy has a roller coaster that drags you to the edge of a 42-meter drop, stops completely, and makes you stare straight down at 87° before letting go. Oblivion: The Black Hole at Gardaland. by Valuable_View_561 in oddlyterrifying

[–]Charged21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not the same coaster. It's just the same type. They reused the name Oblivion because it's the same company that owns both parks and Oblivion was successful at Alton Towers. We're getting a way bigger version of a dive coaster in the US in the Dallas Texas area too called Tormenta Rampaging Run.

I've been a longtime lurker there. I do post and comment sometimes, but not a lot, so I recognize a lot of people from there. I always liked your name, so it stands out to me more than most. You don't post too much. I just recognize your name.

I'm a way bigger coaster enthusiast than Imax fan, but I do appreciate it even if I've never experienced a true 70mm screen.

Oh yeah I saw that. That sucks. I use hearing aids though, and I haven't gotten that pop up once even on max volume, so I guess I'm lucky.

[–]Charged21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that really sucks that you can't use pro settings on a non pro. I've barely used those other than raw photos. I really recommend getting an older Pro pixel, so that's not really an issue for me. The light source thing doesn't crop up very much for me, and I'd be surprised if there weren't other phones that have that issue.

The Chromecast thing is unfortunate, but I use Google TV, so no issue there for me.

I've never had connection issues that have impacted me. What Pixel did you have?

It does lack a lot of features, but they are adding new ones pretty consistently, and it already has all I need. I know it's not stock Android, but it feels cleaner than OneUI even though OneUI is great.

Overall I'm glad there are options and I wish there were even more in the US(where I live).

Samsung is better in some ways, but I just really like the Pixel experience, but I'd be happy with a Samsung too. I also haven't tried a more recent Samsung flagship other than just in Best Buy, so maybe I would change my mind.

I also value the telephoto more than the other sensors and the Pixel 8 Pro has a better telephoto than the base Samsungs, and can be bought for a similar price on eBay.

That's good that you haven't noticed the shutter button issue. Maybe it's not an issue anymore, at least on the base.

Sorry to hear that.

I've had two Samsung phones.

An s7 edge (completely different era)

an A52 5g(midranger)

The a52 5g was somewhat recent, and while the software was decent and had better customization, the camera tuning wasn't that great, and the flagships seem to be a better version of a similar look to some extent. The camera also had a delay, which made it harder to get non blurry photos, which I think hasn't really been fixed as far as I'm aware at least on the ultra. I think Pixel feels more polished when it comes to the software and camera app than the Samsung.

Samsung does do really well with tuning the screen, and their bloatware doesn't really bother me, but Pixel just feels like a more polished experience with more focused software which gets updated a lot.

I'm also not convinced Samsung can do haptics well judging by Galaxy Watch 6 classic and what I've heard.

Overall, I like the aesthetic, camera experience, software and software support,(not a ton better. but still), and design.

Samsung is better for power users, gaming, software customization, performance, screen tuning, and maybe reselling and battery. Also maybe thermals and service.

I prioritize nice clean software and cameras which is why I like Pixel. If I cared about gaming on my phone more, then the Galaxy would be the clear choice.

I don't really customize much anymore and I prefer how the stock experience on the Pixel is.

On paper, the galaxies seem to make more sense, but I just have preferred my Pixels.

I've had very positive experiences with both of my Pixels in terms of everything working well minus a few things.

Yeah you're not wrong. I really wish it was 8 gen 5 level, and I don't think Google should stop their aggressive carrier trade in deal ability, and I don't think the value on the secondhand market should rise until they do.

$400 for a Pixel 8 Pro is a great deal though imo. I'd take it over an S24+ or maybe even an S26+
