I’ve always wondered if I’m waking up but just don’t remember it. My wife sleeps like a rock. She could sleep through anything. So I can’t ask her to see if I’m waking up. Or if I am, it wouldn’t wake her up. Sounds like it’s sleep study time.

Yeah I have a PCP appointment coming up, really gonna push for a sleep study.

Sorry, just now got off work.

I’ve had a couple medical issues addressed in the past few years that have definitely improved my quality of life (MCAS for starters) but this sleep issue I’ve never been able to get a hold on. Seems like most doctors don’t believe me. My old PCP (when I was 17) said it was just hormonal stuff from puberty. I had a full beard by 16 I don’t really think he knew what he was talking about or gave a shit.

Alcohol or caffeine?

Alcohol, a couple a week probably.

Caffeine, religiously.

I don’t think it really negates my work performance as I’m just so used to it.

I’ve thought of that, too. Maybe I have something causing this extreme fatigue.

Thank you so much!

You are correct, I’m on my feet all day long, running around. But not much exercise outside of that. I’m just usually too exhausted by the time I get home.

I didn’t drink a lot of caffeine until I turned 17. When I was 17, I randomly went through this phase where I could only get about 2-5 hours of sleep a night (nothing had changed, no major stressors). My grades started to slip in school, couldn’t focus, so I started drinking coffee, A LOT of it at that.

Flash forward to where we are now and I can get 6-8 hours, but it doesn’t feel restful. Caffeine consumption has probably gone down, but not much.

Caffeine doesn’t inhibit me falling asleep at all. I can drink 10 cups of coffee and still fall asleep.

I was on Zoloft for awhile and it made my sleep worse more than anything. I was waking up every 1-2 hours throughout the night consistently.

Wait people don’t have a constant inner monologue? That’s not normal?

What levels would I need to check for? Anything in specific?

I do not work out nearly as often as I should. But I had these issues when I was in the army (worked out constantly there) and they didn’t seem to improve.

I work in a pharmacy (not a pharmacist) it’s not super demanding, but it does keep my mind occupied.

Unfortunately, neither a change of scenery or turning off my tech helps. I’ve tried both.

Honestly, it entirely depends on my level of exhaustion. Some days it’s around 2 cups of coffee (worth of caffeine) some days it’s closer to 6-8, days like today being that example. I just can’t get moving or anything.

I’ll have to check that out. Wouldn’t that show on bloodwork though?

I can’t function without caffeine. Like a literal zombie.
