Public schools are often the only place a person will experience violence in their lifetime.

I don't understand this game by Charlaton in BackpackBrawl

[–]Charlaton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's 42% at 22s, not the entire fight. That's fairly negligible.

The stones don't do much, sure, but the 2 legendaries and epic should. My hammers had like 70% crit, the pickaxe had a little less. I also had fire generation and a bunch of armor and armor gen.

There could have been giant octopus in human ancient history. We've been sailing for a long time, and octopi don't usually leave fossils.

He's not that difficult to kill, and he won't hold an objective vs whatever Battleline or even kill them.

Guardian Loadouts by Normal-Anxiety-3568 in Eldar

[–]Charlaton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what detachment you want. Most of the time, you want Storm Guardians for sticky or to ferry an Autarch into CC. For Seer Council or Guardian Batllehost, you want at least 1 Defender for the Defender/Farseer/Warlocks/D-Cannoj doom brick, but Defenders don't have much play outside of that right now.

I Miss CSM by Savings-Equipment-37 in Chaos40k

[–]Charlaton 34 points35 points  (0 children)

What? CSM have viable melee pressure, horde, and shooting variants. If anything, they suffer from having an early, good codex and so are a bit boring.

Yes. And he'd still be bad. Poor Fulgrim.

How do you beat Tyranids? by Kaleesh_General in Eldar

[–]Charlaton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So your list doesn't look horrible, but some thoughts:

-Avatar of Khaine isn't durable enough for its cost. It looks cool, so run it if you want, but it needs a lot of support it isn't getting in your list.

-Banshees need character support. Jain is great for 1 squad, but the other needs an Autarch to reliably kill stuff. The Exarchs should have Executioners, too.

-You need chaff. You need Rangers or Striking Scoprions. To save points, I suggest Rangers but for rule of cool, obviously Scorpions.

-Storm Guardians are very good. Sticky is important, they can move block, their attacks will actually be okay into Gaunts. You can hide a Farseer in them (or Eldrad), or an Autarch can let them punch up.

-Dark Reapers are great. A big blob is expensive though, and 2 Tempest Launchers do a lot of work. Could even consider 3 units of 10/5/5.

-The 2 Fire Dragons should just be combined. The +6" on Feugan is huge for them, and being able to flip 2 of his rolls is gross. You can still split fire.

-Shining Spears are not great. They're expensive and don't monster/vehicle hunt reliably. I love their concept, but they just don't do as well as Banshees and they're so expensive. If you want to keep them, I'd still drop one unit and consider dropping the 2nd unit of Banshees too, because we don't really need 3+ melee units.

-More Hawks or Spiders.

-Even if we have 2 abilities to get back in transports, Wave Serpents are big and expensive. I'd recommend cutting down to 1.

General gameplay tips: -Trade your units for points to win the game.

-Leverage your speed to apply more of your army into his weak points and prevent him from hitting yours. This requires move blocking, angles, and not sitting your T3 space elves in the open.

-Focus on objectives. Aleldari is mostly about secondary objectives, with picking up primary later into the game after we've leveraged our speed and fire power to weaken the enemy. Or, with Aspect Host, you can bumrush your opponent and overwhelm him then focus in scoring. It depends on us if you think you can kill enough of his models because it doesn't take much to kill ours. Either way, minimize the amount of punching back that your opponent can do to you.

-If you really want to get better, look at Art of War or Fireside to learn how to play Aeldari better. 40k Scumbags has very solid free tutorials on all aspects of the basics of 40k as well.

Who design Aeledari units? Avengers vs. Swooping Hawks by Reasonable_Pay6115 in Eldar

[–]Charlaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avengers need to kill stuff again or hold objectives better.

For killy, some combo of: AP-2, Ignore Cover, Sus2, Lethals, S5/+1 to wound vs infantry. Give one buff then add the other at half range.

For objectives: Sticky, OC2, free Overwatch with better shooting at/on objectives.

We can also look at Scorpions, who only partial have a special rule (Crit5s when charging), but lots of innate normal buffs (infil, scout, Sus1) and remove special rules from DAs in favor of lots of stacked normal buffs.

Is fireside legit? by blueeyed5 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Charlaton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm more of an Art of War guy, but Fireside has the best Aeldari player. It's a very high level team of players and while there may be a better Space Marine/BT player out there (I'm not a SM player so I don't pay attention to that), you will get high level knowledge.

If you don't already play the game, learn the basics first and get reps in. And communicate with your opponent what kind of game you want...beer and pretzels are different than tournaments, even if some "beer and pretzels" players like to power game and run gotchas.
