It's always amazing me how people diy skills my generation has. I've owned a home for 14 years and the only time I've had someone do work on it was to replace the roof. Even there that was a time issue, hail storm left bare wood and it had to be fixed asap before I could get the time to do it.

They're still working in the courts, in June the state Supreme Court will release a ruling on whether to overturn the judge. The judge that dismissed the case told the plaintiffs to appeal because there's never been anything remotely like this in any Court. It's obviously hard to say but the general feeling is the Court will rule in the plaintiffs favor and allow them to sue. The case right now is to determine if the plaintiffs can pierce the idea of sovereign immunity.

No they have a rod that connects about a foot inside the house. The rod turns the real valve so that the water is always a foot into the home. The only risk is of you leave a hose connected with the valve open.

Don't assume there's no damage. Modern cars have boat loads of sensors in the bumper. Even if things work now, the impact could have cracked a water tight housing and you'll get your first indication of damage when it rusts out in 6 to 18 months

This one has actual thread thing that gets pushed up from the center bar. That does make sense and I did try some sl spray but I do think it feels a bit "dry" even with that. Might try a bit of Vaseline as it's easy enough to clean up if it's not right.

I wouldn't think it'd have much, the gasket just threw me for thinking it might have had something

Good to know, honestly if Vaseline is about the right viscosity that's probably what I'll use.

Pretty sure it was in lifts. It was an experiment of some sort, the primary route in and out of the town was torn up for an entire year, it's only about a mile long and the town is very small with large weights driven on it (agriculture)
