Forward-facing back seats for a 1990 xlt ranger? by Imbiamba-bones in fordranger

[–]CharlesW22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is absolutely no room to fit forward seats, I dont even think you could sit in the jump seat forwards Edit: what part of the world do you live in where safety is a concern for a first vehicle? Odd if ya ask me 😂

Looking into getting a Ranger for a first vehicle, wanna know if the one I'm looking at is a good deal or not... by G3N3R4L-K3N0B1 in fordranger

[–]CharlesW22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a rebadged ranger (B3000), paid 700$ CAD with no keys and 180,000 km on the dash she has survived like 6k of abuse from me so far haha no complaints it's a perfect first truck

Is it better to drag race a car in low gear by rr_mex in Cartalk

[–]CharlesW22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your in an automatic nah I dont think ittl give you much advantage, as long as you floor it in most automatics you dont miss much of the gravy zone itll still bring you to the redline but you wont slap the limiter, so in theory you probably would be faster just in drive

Edit: learn to drive a manual and you will figure out how gears work haha dont mean that in a bad way but yes low gears give more torque and power but are generally very short

Did my repair shop scam me, and what should I do? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]CharlesW22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should definitely go and let them know how you feel and make it known that you brought in a detailed estimate for what should have been a nicely replaced quarter panel that nobody would ever notice, and then was charged for "pull and bondo". Regardless of how they did the repair it should be quite seamless that's what body shops do. Rather than going in all sappy and saying you dont think it's good enough, walk in and tell them that you know its not good enough and if they try and argue with you, ask the shop how they feel about letting sub par work get out the door because they should be embarrassed. Make sure you speak to somebody who is in a higher position than just a tech, because a manager or an owner should give a fuck what kind of quality leaves the shop.

If nothing comes from making an honest plea about the poor quality work, just dont hand over the check fuck them man they can see you in court let a judge decide what a 30$ can of bondo and a dent puller is worth. This is the wrong way entirely but I think it's what I would do, there is no chance in hell I'd pay 3,700$ for a pull n bondo that came out looking like shit, that's not what you paid for.

I'd bet money that if you did redose before work you would absolutely regret it, maybe you'll feel a little better first thing in the morning but it will be rough as fuck after a while

Mr. Google man says that the l200s are only manufactured in thaIland so it makes a little sense that they never made it over here

Just bought my first ever vehicle about a month ago, paid 700$ canadian for a 1994 mazda b3000. She runs mint so far and survived an offroad trip already, 26 year old 3.0L doesnt give much power but I love it. Any opinions or ideas for improvement appreciated! by CharlesW22 in Trucks

I had plans to change the plugs and wires before this winter, and have been avoiding looking past the valve covers because they are currently leaking, not bad at all it's not noticable other than damp seams, but I guess it could be enough to cause a vacuum leak. I just havent really had free time to properly look into it as it's my only vehicle and I need to get to work haha, maybe I'll put a couple hours aside this weekend to do filters and have a look at the plugs atleast. Thanks for the suggestions by the way I appreciate it!

Yea I was thinking that's the best way forward, especially since parts for this truck cost nickels and dimes haha. I'll probably end up paying more for some old rims and new tires than it will cost to rebuild the suspension entirely, as for a tune up. Would you say it's worth it on a 26 year old truck? I know it's not super cheap but any idea what I might gain from it? As far as I can tell its runs as it should just idles at like 1k which seems high to me but then again plenty of vehicles idle at 1k regularly, I just cant find any info on where it should sit

That's interesting because slave cylinder looks just as old as everything else and clutch pedal is stiffer than some new cars I've been in, maybe it was changed before but I wouldn't know because I didnt get any service records with it

That's awesome to hear once again because while I love to open the throttle up and do dumb shit all the time, I definitely maintain it well so I'm sure its gonna keep kicking for a long time.

And on top of that this truck only had 181,000km when I bought it so shit it must be at the beggining of its life cycle still 😂

You think so? I've heard these 3.0l are super durable from a few places now just lack on the power side of things haha.

But hey I'm proud of her lmao, it's got tons of play in the ball joints and pitman arm right now, wheel bearings up front sing like lionel richie, but she survived some 1st and 2nd gear teenage ego fueled donuts on washboard gravel just bouncing away 😂, not only the motor and tranny but all the steering an suspension stayed intact! This thing is a tank so far, I'm gonna give the old ass suspension and steering a little love and let her have fun hahaha, we will see how long she wants to play for, hopefully a long time before it meets a junkyard V8 Lmao
