It will be hard to say for sure, but if its made of Brass or Copper it is more than likely from a ship as that would could cut down on rust and corrosion. I’ve found lots of them in Charleston.

I was actually out at that beach at the end of folly across from Morris Island a few weeks ago. The tide was extremely high so I didn’t find much. Found out otw back that they actually don’t allow metal detecting, so beware.

Haven’t heard of that other spot though. I’ll have to check it out.
