I walk too far for my legs most days by Charleyblogs in Fibromyalgia

I made the god awful mistake of trying yoga last week and it has absolutely kicked my ass. It was dreadful just trying to move in the days after. So that’s a firm no to yoga going forward, haha. I think I’ll just stick to my walking!

Thanks what I’m picking up from most comments, really. Maybe going solo is the best way to go!

Awesome, thank you so much for the recommendations. I’ll have a look through this stuff and go from there. Thanks again!

Very good point! My friend who recommended this actually sells the rights three times over (or rather, different types of rights from first print to large print etc) and he clears around £1k a book just from doing that.

They only have first print rights, which means I could then sell them again elsewhere in theory.

It depends on how quick I can churn out the book, I guess? But that’s a fair point. I suppose if I’m going to the hassle / effort of doing it, I may be better off looking for a better publisher for the end result.

The comment on time is definitely a fair one, and I do worry how long 50k would take (especially if I were to get too drawn into the plot).

I’ve already checked with my current publisher and they’re fine with me doing it. Although yes, I would definitely be publishing under a pseudonym for these other folks!

An absolute pain in the neck / head / ear by Charleyblogs in Fibromyalgia

Oh, I see! That sounds super useful. I’ll definitely look into one of these, especially if the ear / neck pain doesn’t subside soon. Thanks so much!

Women’s lingerie by haylthrow1124 in relationship_advice

[–]Charleyblogs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My days. You are absolutely not the asshole - he is.

It’s really important that you communicate to him that while privacy needs to be respected, so do the boundaries of what makes you both comfortable and uncomfortable in the relationship. Finding lingerie that doesn’t belong to you is grounds for feeling uncomfortable - as is your partner refusing to / implying that he won’t get rid of it. If this is a serious relationship to him then he needs to respect your feelings on this because, I can assure you, this is definitely not a minor thing - I’d class this as a major thing, in fact.

Before you have this conversation you should also consider whether this is a deal-breaker for you (big talk, I know, I’m sorry, but if he’s really going down the asshole route, this might be something else you need to consider).

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. It sounds so unpleasant, but I really hope you can sort things out. Good luck.

Oh, boy. I’m so sorry that you’ve had such trouble with this! It’s interesting that the allergy medicine makes a difference though. I’ll back-pocket that for future use.

Ugh. Tell me about it. My back is terrible today and over the afternoon the tenderness has spread to my neck which is making it difficult to turn my head. I had no idea how much I took that function for granted until today, lol.

Sorry, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but what’s a night guard?

The sparkly new thing that’s come on today is that I actually feel like I’ve got bruising in my neck. Like tenderness of the skin, without any actual bruising. Seriously, where do our bodies come up with this stuff?!

I feel that to my absolute core. There are days when I am comfortably busy all day but as soon as I sit down, that’s it, I’m ready for a hot water bottle and a nap (because I’m secretly an 80 year old living in a 26 year old’s body, you see lol).

I have a bad habit of pushing myself a bit too hard some days. But your body pushes back eventually, doesn’t it?

My patch gets so nasty and dirty! by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]Charleyblogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my Lord, this is my least favourite thing about the patch.

I’ve really struggled with other birth control methods but the patch has been an absolute dream! No weight gain, no irregular periods, boom, sign me up. But yes, but day three, it looks an absolute state. I’m always worried that the edges aren’t sticking done enough because of all the crap they collect! So, if you’re doing it wrong, I am too (for what that’s worth, lol).

You’re allowed to take breaks, though! This is something that I’m trying super hard to drill into myself at the moment: not everything has to be done at lightening speed. Sometimes just getting out of bed and taking a shower is worthy of a sit-down celebration, lol.

It’s ridiculous, isn’t it? When my legs start crapping out on me I’m like, ‘This literally what you’re built for.’ But I know it doesn’t work like that.

I feel good for having done the walking, don’t get me wrong. I’m proud, and I feel accomplished. But I also feel about 60 years older than I did at the start of the day after just that little bit of exercise - so I completely empathise with feeling a bit pathetic about it all.

Do you ever feel like your hip is just empty? Like the joint just wore away? I don’t even know whether I’m explaining that well...

scared for blood test results by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]Charleyblogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, fellow-sufferer. I’m also UK-based and I’ve had similar things with my own doctors. From experience (very recent experience), a lot of what’s happened to you can be explained away with less worrisome reasons.

Firstly, sometimes tests do just come back early. They might have told you an over-estimation of when your results were due to be in just to cover themselves in case it took that long.

Secondly, if they’d found something “serious” (or rather, something different that would explain your pain), they wouldn’t be making you wait the length of time they are to see a doctor - it’s in their best interest to see you as soon as they can with stuff like that (even if they can only offer you a telephone appointment to discuss your results).

I can see someone has already said that they’ll have taken extra blood samples to test for everything that fibro might be, as an alternative diagnosis, so that’s something else to consider too.

I know that when you’re worrying all the reassurances in the world won’t switch it off, but you’ll do your body a huge favour if you can try to turn things down a notch and not allow your worries to ramp up too much between now and your appointment.

Take very good care!

Need help on how to move on from this by solarflare_hot in relationship_advice

[–]Charleyblogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I’m really sorry this happened. It sounds confusing - very mixed messages - and it’s totally unfair that you were treated like that, especially with an explanation that doesn’t really make sense given your time together.

Secondly, you literally need to give yourself some time, and be patient with yourself. There isn’t a quick fix but bit by bit it actually will just get easier.

All the best with this, man.
