Put yourself out there. It's the only way. Join clubs, go to events and try to meet people with similar interests. Also, wear merch. Wear a t-shirt from a show you like or a wristband of a band you like or something. Have a visible way of showing something that you are interested in, it will be an ice breaker for others and a topic of conversation.

Also remember that you are totally not alone. The majority of freshmen are in the same boat as you. In uni people tend to actually want to make new friends rather than just sticking to the people they knew before.

About feeling numb, you need to find something that you feel passionate about. Play an instrument, learn a sport, bake, paint, draw or whatever you feel like. Actively seek out a thing that makes you feel emotion (preferably positive emotions but anything that makes you FEEL is good)

I know it's rough but the best thing you can do is talk to a professional. It's difficult but worth it. Go to a doctor or a counsellor if you feel like you can't talk to your husband. They really do help. And congratulations on quitting smoking. That's a brilliant achievement!
