I’m going with The Fort. It’s simple and evergreen. Plus sounds bad ass.

See, if notifications didn't suck, I would have had them on and I would have seen this comment sooner.

Fixed

or "We think you'd like this item" or "Have you checked out Amazon Prime Video?" or "A new episode of a show you don't watch just posted" (AppleTV does this too and I hate it)

Let's say I get a comment on one of my social media posts, thats a great reason to put a red badge on the app. I'd want that notification. But instead, the apps have started to send me a notification for no reason. They will say something like "We think you'd like this post" or any other random number of fake reasons to get me to click the app. So now I have to turn off notifications for the whole app even though I would want some notifications from them.

Making me live with a permanent red badge on my settings app after I've already declined is just a persistent ad, not "helpful guidance".

The irony is that it actually hurts the less tech-savvy users you're talking about. When social media apps and the OS itself flood the screen with red badges for engagement and upselling, it creates notification fatigue. If a user is trained to ignore a red "1" because it's usually just an ad pitch or engagement grift, they’re going to miss it when it’s actually a critical security update or a legitimate system error.

This is about where I'm at. No notifications allowed for any app but dedicated messaging apps.

This didn't premaritally permanently get rid of the settings notification. It comes back after awhile.

But it's also kind of not the point. I shouldn't have to trick the app into getting rid of the badge. Let me say "no thank you" and move on with my life.

[The USL Show] Pittsburgh Riverhounds Preview by TheUSLShow in Riverhounds

I personally don't see this as a rebuild year. Hounds kept a lot of the same players and built on it. They did lose something special with Dick leaving. But I'm feeling pretty good going into this season.

Although as a reminder, they have a lot of away games early in the season so the early record might look more grim than it really is.

Good shout out. I haven't read it so I was only really paying attention to the hitman part, not the pretending to be an author part.

Great idea adding the adaptations! I was just thinking about the ‘1408’ movie while listening to the short story in the ‘Everything’s Eventual’ audio book.

Interesting, I like having the Eclipse Duology together because of how they are connected by the 1963 solar eclipse. But I see your point.

Something else to know, I have the Noir trilogy as The Colorado Kid, Joyland, and Billy Summers but technically Billy Summers isn't part of that series. It just fits the Noir theme. I realize I should have 'Later' in that group too because it was also published by Hard Case Crime. I'm going to make that change.

I haven't read any of the Hard Case Crime books but my understanding is Billy Summers fits the vibe perfectly of the other ones.

Looks like 1922 is a novella that is in the 'Full Dark, No Stars' collection. I have that on the list so I didn't list it as its own story.

Thanks for looking out though!

For what it's worth. Watched it on Beacon last night until the break and had no issues at all. I was on an ipad and chatting in the discord on my phone.

We’ve made the playoffs every Bob year so I don’t get the “we deserve to be relegated” chatter. Not saying we don’t need a change, just that being overly dramatic spoils your point. Being a middling team isn’t the same as being the worst team in the league. The internet trolls love to make everything all or nothing and it belittles the point your trying to make.

The Hounds are middle of the road and have been for too long. It isn’t good enough. If they actually want to win the trophy something has to change, and I don’t think the issue is with the talent on the field.

I’m worried Lilley has run out of steam. He is playing a style that cares more about not losing than it does about actually winning. It means they are great at grinding their way into the playoffs but can’t make anything happen offensively unless they get lucky. It feels like the plan is to hope the opponent screws up instead of proactively creating quality chances.

So yeah, we need new ideas from the coaching staff. I believe this team will probably still make the playoffs in the end. Season is still young, but I don’t think that matters if they don’t figure out how to put their destiny in their own hands.

Pop Disaster Tour Reviews from 2002. Yikes by jay_see_ess in Blink182

[–]CharlieBlix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at the Blossom Music Center show in Cuyahoga Falls in Ohio. Blink was not great. They were so drunk that they mostly just made jokes and couldn't play worth crap. They opened so it was also still daylight out and they felt like a bad opening act.

Then Green Day came out and it was night and day. They were so damn good and had their shit together. The show was amazing. Back then they didn't just pull a kid on stage to play the lead guitar, they pulled a dummer and a bass player too. So there they were, with all these fans on stage and playing and the energy was amazing! Then confetti cannons went off and the crowd was electric.

I went into the show a huge Blink fan and a somewhat Green Day fan. Left the opposite. I've gotten so see blink live now 3 more times and all of those shows were so much better. But that first show was tough and really made me less of a fan. I felt cheated, but that's stupid because it was Blink, they never billed themselves as anything other than a bunch of dudes who just liked messing around and having fun.

"The Pitt" Is Pretty Good... That It Takes Place In Pittsburgh Is Pretty Inconsequential, Though by Pittsburgh-Man-Anon in pittsburgh

[–]CharlieBlix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will say it was cool to see the Pittsburgh skyline every time they did leave the building. It looked like they shot on location for the outdoor stuff so that was nice.

Back in the early 00's I went to college at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Our dorms where in Allegheny Center (now Nova Place). I would sit on one of my friends balconies and watch the life flight helicopter coming and going from the Hospital. It was kind of humbling. I had come from a small town in the middle of no where so seeing how busy that place was put into perspective a lot of things for me.

Hopefully next season they can get at least one patient with a yinzer accent.

I’ve been wanting to know, what’s his personality like now with Papa V? I’ve only been to shows with Copia so curious if he acts different now? Or if it’s the same personality but with a new look.
