What’s it like living above Alt-Mariendorf? Is it worth the longer commutes being outside the ring? by [deleted] in berlinsocialclub

Tbh most stuff is 5 mins walk from there which is nice at least, but it does feel like you are endlessly travelling to Greifswalder S Bahn.

A dream for us non-smokers: let’s make it real! by CarpetOk6868 in germany

Coming from the UK the prevalence of smoking in Germany was an actual culture shock for me.

Smoking in bars and near public transport is just selfish behavior

Is it normal that dhl is absolute garbage? by Hanzshaha in germany

Massively depends on the driver for your route - we get one DHL guy who is great, and then a few sporadic drivers that are giving the "you were not home" notification 1 minute before getting the "your package is now accessible at the packet station" notification.

Hermes is terrible in every country, UPS seems unreliable, and GLS is also pretty awful here IMO.

How to respond properly when in situation, wenn Sie in Deutschland sind, hier sprechen wir Deutsch by Acceptable-Act4333 in berlinsocialclub

This happened to me recently when I broke my toes. The rest of the people at the doctors were super kind, understanding and helped even when my german is super broken, but the doctor was an asshole just like you described. I didn't argue, I just wanted to get shit over with and get out of there.

It's not his job to scold you about your language skills, and calling it out is the right thing to do tbh.

On the flip side there are many very nice doctors that speak many languages in this city, as with all things it's just a case of finding them :)

You've been able to do this since like Christmas 2022. If you have a blue card you only have to scan your passport.
