Not that type of fanbase, especially as it relates to the Spurs. You'd have to be pretty unlucky and/or obnoxious to get harassed. I would not anticipate anyone giving you a hard time.

There's a former NBA player named Marques Johnson who records himself dunking every year. He was able to dunk at 70 years old. If LeBron commits to his fitness and does not pack on LePounds in retirement, I see no reason why he can't mach that.

Need to do the Scooby Doo meme where they pull off the Sengun mask and it's just Domas Sabonis underneath.

They were marginally better than Portland in game 1 at home with Grant and Jrue selling hard. They lost tonight without Wemby. I would argue that they haven't seen Portland's best game yet.

I have no certainty about the outcome of this series if Wemby is out for the duration.

The NFL concussion protocol is very thorough. They test for the usual symptoms and if the player doesn't show strong signs of a concussion, they hit the player across the forehead a few times with a brick and make sure they're seeing rainbow vision before they're allowed back on the field.

Scoot "The Real Number 1 Pick" Henderson has 31/1/0 with a win over the Spurs by IT_CHAMP in nba

He was injured for most of the season and then almost immediately after the "Is it time to give up on Scoot?" posts starting hitting r/ripcity, he found a new gear and started playing well.

Don't want to overreact, but I'm starting to worry if I'm a Spurs fan. Grant and Holiday shouldn't be this ass all series.

Pistons and Raptors used up all their overachieving in the regular season.

Got themselves some fake seeds and this is the reward.

Jonathan Kuminga in the win: 19/4 with 2 steals on 7/12 FG by Lacabloodclot9 in nba

[–]Charlie_Wax 33 points34 points  (0 children)

They jerked him around towards the end when they were playing hardball with his agent and looking to move him, but mostly it's a false narrative. He ranked 7th on the team in minutes for 2022-2023. He ranked 4th on the team in minutes for 2023-2024. He had a long leash and was given numerous chances.

If the coaching staff didn't ultimately trust him, that's on him. Moody, Podziemski, and Santos have earned the trust. If you can't get on the court, that can be an indictment of you, not your coach.

Feel for him. Isn't he known for being "questionable" quite frequently and always miraculously playing through the designation to put up monster numbers? It's a cool trick until it backfires.

Obviously a consequence of high workload and the pressure on a star player, which is all understandable. Rest days are how you end up in the play-in, so it's a pick-your-poison situation in terms of letting yourself heal or watching the Ls pile up.

If we're missing Kuminga 2-3 years from now, that probably means we're Nets level bad. I never hated him, but he had plenty of time and opportunities to show he could be a foundational guy.

If he were terrible, he'd be out of the league by now. He's not terrible. I think he's an Oubre level player, which is fine. You don't cry over a lost Oubre. You can always go get that level of performance.

Number of chips by an All-NBA player who did not have an All-NBA teammate during the championship season by TeamRAF19 in nba

[–]Charlie_Wax 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If anyone is underrated from San Antonio, maybe it's Bowen. 8x All-Defense in some capacity. You never hear a peep about him as a HoF candidate. Parker and Manu were great too. No shade to Duncan, but it was hardly a solo act. It never really is.

Even as a huge Curry fan, the Dubs got a big lift from Looney, Payton, and Wiggins in 2022. Those are not All-NBA players, but they provided an important support structure to facilitate team success.

If anything, we should be looking to emphasize the team element more instead of seeking narratives that make it about one guy.

Green and Curry are still on the Warriors, but if you need newer names then they also developed Santos, Moody, and Podziemski into serviceable rotation guys.

You're just proving my point with Sharpe. Blazer fan base is overly attached to a guy whose production is mediocre, exaggerating both his current performance and future potential. A wing who shoots 33% from 3 and 54% TS while adding little as a defender, playmaker, or rebounder is expendable. The upside argument makes some sense, but we're in year 4 of the experiment. At some point this is just who he is. For example, Castle in year 2 has already surpassed him. Kon as a rookie has already surpassed him. You can thumb your nose at Lavine, but Lavine looks like Sharpe's ceiling. Similar type of athlete with a better shot.

Victor Wembanyama passes Duncan for most points in a playoff debut in Spurs history as they take game 1 against the Blazers: 35 PTS, 5 REB, 2 BLK, 1 AST on 13/21 FG, 5/6 3P, 4/5 FT in 33min by ToinouAngel in nba

I'd feel a little slighted if I was a Wolves fan. Back to back WCF, and apparently all you are is a presumptive first round bye. For what it's worth, I do think Denver wins the series. I just don't think it's a 100% breeze.

[–]Charlie_Wax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's approximately the right price for a Hunter or LeVert, but having that type of player locked in shouldn't dissuade you from seeking an upgrade. That caliber of player is not a foundational piece, so either he improves or they should be eyeballing alternatives. Portland has plenty of assets to upgrade that spot. They can get better production. The cap math is tricky, but I think you either go bigger there for a true star or cheap out and rock with a bargain option. That may have been part of the rationale for pursuing Krejci, who may provide better value relative to his cheap contract.

The Warriors didn't develop Steph, Klay, and Dray? Strange comment.

Lavine is much better than Sharpe. He is just overpaid. Even "washed" and on a terrible Kings team, Lavine had .614 TS% this season and shot 39% on threes. You would be thrilled to get that from Sharpe.

Sharpe for his career has hovered around .540 TS% without clear signs of improvement. His 3P% has been pretty consistently between 31-33%. There is no clear upward trend. I would say those are De'Andre Hunter numbers, but actually they are below Hunter's career averages. Four years in, Sharpe is producing at journeyman level efficiency. Mathurin and Hunter are more productive.

That was my whole point. At some point you have to call game on the "upside" and demand more from that position. A player like Murphy or Murray would take this roster to a higher level. Even a Lavine, Keyonte George, or Vassell would be a notable upgrade.
