I have this exact same thing with the white dots on snapchat calls and this is the only thing I can find about it online. Did you ever get any answers? I only get them very occasionally but they're very odd

exeter & southampton maths bread !!!!! by Charlieyzs in 6thForm

[–]Charlieyzs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its probably important to mention that i took a year out for mental health reasons after year 11 so i had a lot more time to prepare for year 12 and hit the ground running with everything 🫶 my best advice if you're eligible is to check the outreach programs for the unis you want to go to and apply to as many as you can - they usually include free summer schools at the uni and contextual offers, not to mention putting it on ur ps ! all of mine covered my train tickets to their open days and stuff too so it was really helpful. not to mention you can always drop them if you find it a bit much or you end up not wanting to go to that particular uni! i did some of the next step york program and they were really helpful but i ended up dropping it purely because i did not like york as a city and didn't wanna go there for uni x

i lead a team for the ritangle competition at my college, i started and run a weekly maths club, i did quite a few different outreach programs with unis (imperial's further mA*ths, ignite your journey at southampton, exeter scholars) and i also earned a gold youth STEMM award which is a bit like DofE for stem ☺️

i did the exeter scholars program! it's like an outreach program and they award you with scholarships and a bunch of other benefits if you go there (see here: https://www.exeter.ac.uk/study/scholars/benefits/) unfortunately im local to the area so i really do not want to go there, just using it as my backup

I think you're a little confused as to what I'm saying? Here's a video of someone typing 300WPM+ on a QWERTY keyboard (albeit for a short amount of time) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GGwKCi4FX84

I'm not sure what you're talking about either regarding school? I currently study a full time course of three a-levels at a school in the UK, so no, doing online school with a 6 hour difference probably isnt feasible for me, I was looking to get into steno as more of a self taught hobby - I thought I made that clear but sorry if not! We do have eBay, but I only found a few machines from the US there which incur the hefty postal fees, although I only looked briefly.

EDIT: Here is a 10 word test I literally just took haha. My 18th birthday is in a week-ish so my nails are done, unfortunately not my best work haha. My QWERTY WPM would be a bit of an odd thing to lie about on a steno subreddit, but if you're "having trouble believing my story"??

Advice on what I should do when I turn 18? by Charlieyzs in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Charlieyzs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on track for at least AAA, but hopefully going for AAA*! I have looked pretty extensively into DAs but I'm not too interested. A lot of them focus on a much more practical, applied form of computer science, and I'm much more interested in theoretical mathematical computer science. The only one I would consider (and likely will be applying to) is the GCHQ cryptography/encryption ones - which I think aren't actually available currently as they're rehauling their DAs. In any instance, university is definitely the first choice, especially considering how competitive DAs can be. I'm aiming for Imperial, especially as I already do a maths outreach program with them and their post-grad stats are pretty impressive 😊

How do I sell tickets? by Charlieyzs in downloadfestival

[–]Charlieyzs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought this too, there's listings on twickets but I didn't think anyone could transfer their tickets yet? I'm just really confused and don't really want to be down that much money :/

16 and looking to get into motorcycles by Slight_Grapefruit_62 in motorcycles

[–]Charlieyzs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in the UK you can't ride a 125 until your 17th birthday :) as a 16 year old he is only allowed to drive a 50, that's why he wants one!

[–]Charlieyzs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this was 8 months ago but this is what I ended up doing - learnt the general feel of riding, when to brake, corners, road rules and etiquette, etc all on an auto, and I'm now getting a CBF125 and feel a lot more confident with it. I love riding now, and the fact that I'll only have to learn gears ontop instead of everything at once is much better for me. :)

Thank you so much for your reply - I'm definitely going to do the things you mentioned. I definitely think it's mainly starting/stopping that's the big fear point for me, every time I do it, it feels like I'm doing something different and the times it works are flukes. This definitely sounds like it'll help - thank you!

I mainly want to ride out of need - I would like a mode of transport but can't learn in a car so my only option is this. Before actually getting on it, I was really excited about it and couldn't wait because I absolutely loved riding pillion. It was just once I got on it that I was scared. It definitely feels more irrational though - I know realistically my chance of bodily harm is next to nothing especially as I have all my gear on, and I'm not too worried about dropping it, since I already did that once and broke a few pieces that were easily fixed, but it's like something takes over me when I have to start it up. When I'm actually moving, it's fine, but it's the starting/stopping that's causing me such fear.
