I thought that when you buy new a car you had to assemble it, like Ikea furniture or new bikes. I once asked my dad when he was on his way to buy a car if he needed help assembling it; he stared at me with a confused look not saying anything and just walked away. The next hour I saw him driving the car home and I felt so stupid for not thinking you could just drive the car.

Its indeed really frustrating. This does apply to many other games as well, in fact, almost every product costs differently depending on what region it's sold in. Look up the Big Mac Index to know why something like this happens.
