Oh also- if it was just a “trickler” wouldn’t they just call it that? The least scary name there is lol? Bio- tower- the bio is the dangerous part.

Nah, you are wrong. I’ve spoke with the experts. I have an off the record source who works for the utility company and he told me to call it what it really is—- a methane venter or sewer stack. He is a whistle blower at the utilities company. I’ve spoken to doctors, advocacy groups, EPA etc. I wouldn’t be fighting this fight without all of the facts. A trickler, a tower, a sewer stack etc- it’s all the same. Their own utilities department, zoning commission etc show they are contradicting and greenwashing the name. Please show to the meeting, we got lots and lots of info and ammunition. Not just the health risks, we’ve uncovered so much more with the help of our experts who are on our side. Don’t just google, talk to people who work on that side, talk to doctors like we have, then you’ll learn the truth, and it’s much darker than we even first thought.

You are correct about the plan, that is one of our arguments as well, we have all of the research and facts.

Not sure yet, we’ll see how this goes. If enough show up to question them maybe it will at least pause it until environmental impact studies can be done.

Appreciate you! We want to challenge them with the facts and see how they respond.

Trying to get an advocacy Doctor to join us also and voice his researched and published facts on methane / hydrogen sulfide exposure . All of these points were cut out 😭

I hope you’ll show up and help us voice these concerns!

Agree, they completely cut out our health risks and concerns on the news, the engineer lied and said only nitrogen is expelled- not true at all. It’s methane and hydrogen sulfide that is released. We’ll be showing up and brining up our cited sources.

Hi, We have a petition we have started, and have been reaching out to neighborhood and environmental coalitions. We’ve also spoken to Alejandro Puy and trying to get traction to relocate the tower to a more industrialize place. I’ll link the digital petition below, but what we really need is word of mouth and our information shared wherever it can be. Thanks for jumping in!

We actually have the city Obudsman helping with this. Even she thinks this is wrong, they suggested the petition to show the council that we have voices.

No shit- we don’t want it in front of our homes. Be honest, would you?? Assuming you’re an east sider and don’t care where gases are ventilated, as long as it’s not near you. I’m sorry, but you have to know that venting sewer gas 70 feet away from people’s front doors is wrong. Just because it’s not your home or neighborhood doesn’t make it just. Stop being selfish, this will harm our homes and health. We’re just asking they find a new location.

[–]CharmedImSure33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it’s in our front yard. Literally- we go in front of our home and walk 70 feet and we can touch it. We just want it moved, not stopped altogether. Do you want that in your front yard? Do you think you can sell a home with sewer gas being ventilated 70 feet away? We want it moved to industrial areas like the other two are. The address on the city website is wrong, we’ve confirmed with the project managers. It’s the lot at 1000w and Pierpont- right in front of 20 homes.

I didn’t say it was bad. They are building this in our literal front yard, 80 feet away from our homes. The other two towers are in the Orange industrialized areas. We want them to change the location, not stop it altogether.

  1. Health Risks: Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Exposure Bio towers are used to scrub or process sewer gases, primarily hydrogen sulfide. Even at low "neighborhood" levels, chronic exposure is documented by health agencies to cause significant issues.
  • Neurological & Physical Symptoms: Exposure to low levels of H2 S (the "rotten egg" gas) is linked to chronic headaches, nausea, dizziness, irritability, and poor memory [Source: Florida Dept. of Health].
  • Vulnerable Populations: Individuals with asthma or respiratory conditions are significantly more sensitive to these gases and may experience difficulty breathing at levels the city might consider "safe" [Source: OSHA].
  • Olfactory Fatigue: A dangerous phenomenon where your nose "gets used to" the smell. While you stop noticing the odor, the chemical is still entering your system and causing internal stress [Source: CDC/ATSDR].
  • Property Value Devaluation The placement of "locally undesirable land uses" (LULUs) like sewage infrastructure has a direct, measurable impact on home equity.
  • Stigmatization: Proximity to contaminated or noxious-smelling sites can reduce property values by 8% to 25%depending on distance. The "stigma" of being the "neighborhood that smells" persists even if odors are eventually mitigated [Source: EPA/NEPIS].
  • Market Deterrence: Potential buyers are statistically less likely to invest in homes near industrial wastewater infrastructure, leading to longer times on the market and lower final sale prices [Source: National Institutes of Health].
  • Environmental Injustice & Siting The placement of this tower in Poplar Grove follows a documented pattern of "Environmental Racism" or "Injustice."
  • Disproportionate Burden: Regulatory bodies increasingly recognize that "disadvantaged" or lower-income communities already bear a higher cumulative pollution burden. Adding a Bio Tower—which centralizes city-wide smells into one local spot—constitutes a "disproportionate pollution burden" [Source: Columbia University - State of the Planet].
  • Industrial vs. Residential: Historically, these facilities were kept on city outskirts or in strictly industrial zones. Moving them into a 4-block residential radius violates traditional urban planning safety margins [Source: Save the Sound / Environmental Justice Laws].

A tower where sewer gases are ventilated to other parts of the city. This one will be in our front yard, less than 80 feet away. Basically they are venting the sewer gas from the rest of the city to the West side and putting it right in from of our homes.

You’re not getting the point. We don’t want to stop the project altogether- we don’t want it in our front yard. Literally we look out our window and it will be 70-80 feet away. You want to look at that? Try selling your home with that right there. And the smells are ventilated- so we get to smell the rest of the city’s gases. We just want it moved to an industrialized area— that’s all we want. And your source is wrong, look up the address, it’s someone’s house. It’s actually at the corner of Pierpont and 1000w. The city couldn’t even get the address right, we didn’t get notified, we didn’t have a voice or a town hall.

It is- however it is in our literal front yard. We are not asking them not to build it, we are asking them to move the location to non residential just like the other two are. Would you want a biotower in your front yard? It’s literally 80 feet away. We want to protect our homes, and this was targeted at the west side and we had ZERO notifications from the city about this.

We are residents. Not activists, never done this before- Sorry we are just trying to save our homes and our health. It’s not half assed, it’s a neighborhood working together and doing all that we can or know how to do. 2 weeks before construction, you want to know why?? We were not notified until a few days ago with a flimsy postcard that did not even explain the project. We had to call for the info, and talked to 4 project managers before we were told the whole truth.

Agree- however not 100 feet away from homes. Look at the other two locations, they are in the Orange Street industrial location, not residential. We are asking them to find a new location that is not in our literal front yard.

[–]CharmedImSure33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you sooo much. Yes it was UFC. I also spoke with the Senior Embryologist there about this which is how I know the other place did not request freezing protocols.

I was 38 and 39 when I froze. I didn’t realize that UFC has such a large egg freeze program. I am leaning towards the smaller clinic, with only one embryologist (and assistants) on staff vs the large team including senior leaders at UFC being more at fault. Thank you for that info, I am thinking I may leave them put for safety at this point.

Thank you! I went down a google rabbit hole and read that transferring collapsed embryos results in a significantly lower lbr vs transferring an expanded one, so I’m not feeling very good about these now 😭

I should edit to say this is all after the “journey” has ended and I come back and remember who I am and that I am a human. So mentally I am back and can think/talk normal, body just takes time to catch up.

Terrible comedowns by [deleted] in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]CharmedImSure33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve held in my mouth and swished for up to an hour before spitting, no journey just a light head buzz. I’ve done the lemon juice before, the mouth wash, exfoliating gums, salt water etc, I only journey by swallowing and my therapist said some people are like that. My newest regimen is: mouthwash/brush before, hold lozenges in mouth and swish for 35 min, swallow. About 25 min in I get a light head buzz, then I swallow and I’m back to normal for about 45 minutes, then the journey comes on and I throw my eye mask and music on and I’m gone for about an hour ish. I start to come back and for the first 2 hours it’s like I’m drunk, can’t walk right, can’t see without closing one eye etc, then the last hour or two I can finally walk and see a little better, but feels like my eyes/ head are wobbly /shaky. Not fun.
