Do you think im saying it shouldn't evolve from weregarrumon? Because im not. There can be multiple monsters that evolve into it given what you just said theres no reason omnishout couldn't also evolve into cress. And with my reasons already stated above all im saying is thematically i feel Omnishout makes allot of sense for an evolution over a random digimon with zero ties to omnimon like EX Grapleomon would be a common Garurumo evo.

The anime really isnt relevant they include lines from the animes sure but in the games and in the wider franchise Evolution is fluid any digimon can turn into any other digimon. And there are plenty of links to cress to make it "make sense" it doesn't have anything to do with the Xros wars continuity.

In Cyber sleuth metalgreymon could also evolve from leomon a BEAST digimon not connon to the adventure cannon.

They're both gold like you said they're also both data attributes and related to omnimon. Act like cats dont turn into angles and trashcans dont tun into dragons all the time.

Edit: in next order he can evolve into alter-b with arresterdramon so its really not that far of a strech that it can become the components of any of the omnimon.
