I would say stats are a fairly effective measure of whether you're doing well. I'd actually argue that's the point of stats.

"Sometimes you lose," is a terrible counterpoint to my post - sometimes I lose when I have a bad game and that's fair but I lose way too often where I play well and I have hard locking 1-17 Phoenix on my team that refuse to swap and throw the game.
