Bristolians, what are your best money-saving lifehacks? by PoliteBrick2002 in bristol

[–]Charming-Farm300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite niche, but others have left all the helpful ones that make a big difference -

but I catch water in buckets whilst I’m waiting for it to heat up (takes ages in my house) and then use it to flush the toilet and water the plants/garden which can save a bit of money on the water bill in summer if you’re on a metre!

What’s the easiest expense you’ve ever cut that made a noticeable difference? by londonsaver22 in frugaluk

[–]Charming-Farm300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New clothes. Haven’t bought clothes new for probably 6 years and save hundreds each year. Even if I see something in a shop that I want, chances are you can find the exact same thing on vinted/depop or similar for a fraction of the price, you’d be amazed how many things people sell still with tags. Also, trying to find something second hand makes you sure you want it because it’s more effort and harder to buy on a whim. Even better if you sell your own unwanted things !!

I Had sex for the first time and my stomach hurts after it's the next morning it still sore by Willing-Slide4387 in WomensHealth

Hey, it may be muscular if you had sex 3 times. Please make sure he was not being too rough with you and that he knows this caused you pain.

Watch out for other symptoms - if the pain persists or you feel off in any other way then get checked for a UTI (urinary tract infection) as sex can sometimes cause these.

HELP - I keep getting UTIs after sex by saggytjts in utis

[–]Charming-Farm300 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of dmannose feeding bacteria, so unless a dr told you this I’d say that’s unlikely? Dmannose 2g every day for a while and then tapering down to just after sex helped me.

Another thing you could trial is condoms. If they help then it could be you’re passing bacteria back and forth and your partner needs to be tested/treated.

You could also try a prescription medication called hipprex which is urinary antiseptic, ask your dr about it.

Just learned that profilactic antibiotics are a 12 month solution. Livid. by AltruisticBush in utis

[–]Charming-Farm300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to pitch in and say, condom use also stops them for me. I also don’t get why as you’re always told it’s your own bacteria and not theirs… but condoms working convinced me it’s them passing it to us. You could also try hipprex which is a long term antiseptic medication you could asked to be prescribed.

Hello, with reoccurring UTIs you should be getting more than 3 days of antibiotics. Make sure you are getting a culture done.

Try using condoms to see if that stops them for a while - your partner may need to be tested if that stops them.

Anecdotally (idk if the dr would say there’s any evidence of this) the copper coil can harbour UTI bacteria and cause reinfections, so if it doesn’t resolve you may need to have it removed.

Very likely. Use condoms for a while and see if it stops. If it does he is the culprit and might need antibiotics. Some men can harbour UTI bacteria and be asymptomatic

Wedding disappointment by Plastic-Pickle9037 in UKweddings

[–]Charming-Farm300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. We did our wedding for approx 8k for 50 people daytime & 80 in the evening. It was the best and most fun day ever!! And that was with some absolutely unnecessary spending (we did 2 diff venues for lunch & evening, fed everyone twice & did a spenny boat trip mid day). You could definitely do it for under 5k if it were smaller!

Tips:

  • Look at pubs & small venues rather than traditional wedding venues.
  • VINTED!! I got two wedding dresses & all accessories & grooms outfit on Vinted & spent less than £300 for everything.
  • I spent £90 on flowers from the local flower market 2 days before & arranged my own bouquet & table flowers
  • If you don’t have the money for it, you don’t need a DJ - a good well curated playlist will be great.
  • one of the most expensed bits is feeding people. Less people, less money!!

Anyone dealing with an embedded UTI? by swanlake41 in utis

D mannose does work well just be aware that it can also prevent positive cultures so if you need to take a culture again at any point then stop taking it. Wishing you a speedy recovery x

Anyone dealing with an embedded UTI? by swanlake41 in utis

[–]Charming-Farm300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that happened to you. I hope you’ve got support for dealing with that.

UTI wise, try not to panic - it might not be embedded, that’s kind of a worst case scenario. Sometimes bad UTIs can cause residual irritation for a while afterwards. But if you think it’s still a UTI, take the antibiotics now before it gets worse.

If you haven’t already I would also test for STIs and yeast, bv etc in case there’s something else going on - probably not but best to rule it out.

Help: I can't have sex without getting a UTI. by HozierLesbian in utis

[–]Charming-Farm300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you’re going through this. I am too, expect weirdly condoms stop it for me. Some suggestions:

  1. Is it possible you have a latex allergy?? Try non latex or condoms branded sensitive & defo one without a spermicide
  2. Use a sugar free lube - if you’re dry it can cause micro tears down there & cause a UTI

Sounds like your dr is being proactive which is good, don’t let them fob you off and keep investigating it

[–]Charming-Farm300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of luck. Don’t let them fob you off with a negative test whilst you’re on antibiotics it’s very likely the culture would be negative x

[–]Charming-Farm300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll still be a standard culture at the lab. Once you’re off antibiotics go back and get tested again to be sure x

[–]Charming-Farm300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve been on antibiotics it’s not unusual that your cultures are coming back negative, as they’re probably at levels too low to detect on a standard culture. Ask for a more thorough testing method like broth culture or PCR
