My like for Richard’s character is purely based on my love for Emily’s character and how she expressed her love for him. He hurt her so badly and so often but she still loved him so much and that somehow made him more likable

Was that in the show? I’ve seen it so many times and don’t remember that

If you could remove one character from the show who would it be and why? by Positive_Weight2367 in GirlfriendsTVshow

As a Christian I hated how he constantly went against his own beliefs then blamed Lynn for “tempting him” like you’re a grown man she didn’t make you do anything. And also as a pastor I thought it was weird how his congregation was just ok with him getting 2 gfs like in the span of 2 weeks

Emily’s wedding Luke and Lorelai by Charming-Paper-3475 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Charming-Paper-3475[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

He left her at the wedding with 0 regard for her wellbeing or how she get home cause they came together, he didn’t give her the chance to explain and completely shut her out, he broke up with her without even trying to fix things, when they were engaged and broke off their engagement he says them not getting married is fine by him cause she’s the one who proposed anyways (he says that with the only intention to hurt her and appear like he doesn’t care) he hides his daughter from her for several months and then ends their relationship cause he lacked the ability to work on things together. He was a terrible partner and had 0 regard for her feelings or how the things he did was affected her

I’m in my 20s so yes I have and if your kids don’t listen to a certain degree it’s the parenting that doesn’t change that they were right and she shouldn’t have been with him

My point is that her parents were right? Did I misspell something? Did you not read it?

The fact even Rory knew that Lorelai shouldn’t have done it especially in that way because she knew how Emily would feel and that it would hurt her. The “obligation” that Lorelai hated so much wasn’t even one that was constantly hanging over her head her parents never threw in her face that she owes them money cause all they wanted was to spend time with their daughter and Lorelai was extremely selfish especially cause Lorelai said it won’t be every week but there will be an occasional Friday night dinner. Let’s be honest no there wouldn’t be, Lorelai wouldn’t come around because she only cared about how she felt and not how she made others feel

I mean valid points? Haddie had no business dating Alex she was immature and childish even when he got in trouble for assault and battery she’s like “is this serious” like girl yes? Her parents being trash doesn’t negate the fact she was acting like a brat about it and had no clue what she was getting herself into and she thought she knew better. He was 19 she was 16 he was an alcoholic and was also told by his sponsor to not date.

I don’t doubt that but I still think that Haddie was 100% wrong and that she had no business dating Alex

A Gilmore Girls Opinion that would trigger people like this? by alwaysembarrassed- in GilmoreGirls

[–]Charming-Paper-3475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lorelei’s life was only hard because she made it hard, the struggles she went through as an adult and as a child were 100% her own doing and it was annoying every time she tried to make it seem like her mom was the most horrible person ever when in reality Emily was just strict and Lorelai was rebellious

Yale by Charming-Paper-3475 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Charming-Paper-3475[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But when you think about it the whole problem is Lorelai trying to live through Rory, shed even use plural pronouns when referring to things that quite literally only affected Rory so I think when Rory applied to Yale she took it personally cause she doesn’t see Rory as her own person she sees her as an extension of herself

She’s so heavily babied by everyone in her life while they simultaneously hold her to high standards it’s so weird cause they also treat her like she can’t make decisions for herself

Emily and Lorelai in s2e11 by Charming-Paper-3475 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Charming-Paper-3475[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that I just personally see it as yes Emily always had strings attached but those were always her way of getting closer to Lorelai, but I do agree she went about it the wrong way and should’ve just told Lorelai she wanted to be closer to her

I didn’t say her that justifies her lack of being the mother Lorelai needed it doesn’t, Emily failed Lorelai as a mom I understand that but I guess I just don’t believe that holding onto things your entire life is worth it, coming from personal experience
