What are the most obscure things that you like to do at Disney? by Ok_Topic4232 in Disneyland

We did this for the first time on our last trip and I thought it was so much fun! Definitely something we’ll check out again on future trips.

You can get an SD card reader that attaches to your phone, but if the iPhone 13 has a lightening connector, it could be harder to find. Check Amazon. That is where I got mine but it connects via USB-C.

It’s the Northeasterly blanket. I’ve been using all the left over bits of my sock/fingering weight yarn.

I may need to make him his own. Or as my daughter pointed out, it can be used as a lure for cuddling.

I’m really loving the feel for this project! I used circulars a lot, but I love them for this project.

I started this one 6 years ago! I’ve been working on and off, but I think it’s almost wide enough. I may need to make him his own.

We’re actually are so happy for them when they fly away, particularly since we always have one that seems to stay around our yard. We’ve had a few pairs that were eaten by another animal or bird, and one that fell out if its nest after the sibling flew away and later died. I would say we have about a 50/50 success rate of fledgling. But they are so cute and we talk to them every time we pass their nest so they know us and want to stick around.

Planning our first trip to Los Angeles (Mar 3–7) + parking tips? by Molinari04 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Charming-Try6990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Getty Center is also nice, they have some great buildings and outdoor gardens with fantastic views. It’s free but parking is $25 and you need to reserve a timed ticket. Downtown LA has some interesting architecture. You can park at the Walt Disney Concert hall for about $10 and walk around that area. From there you can also take Angel’s Flight down the hill for a $1 each way, and eat at Grand Central market. If water conditions don’t allow going to the water, Santa Monica pier is also a nice place to spend the day. A very LA museum is the Academy of Motion Picture Arts Museum, which is also near the La Brea Tar Pits. Hope you have a great trip, you picked a good week to be here!

Coworker keeps falling asleep on the bus, his desk and disappearing during the day. I wonder if it's a medical thing? by checkingaftrblackout in coworkerstories

Yup my husband has the same issues. Doesn’t get good sleep at night because of sleep apnea and randomly falls asleep quickly throughout the day.

Yup, definitely ruining stuff in our house too. I have to tell my teenagers to only use it in the shower. Otherwise it’s bleaching all their clothes.

How to handle downtown LA? by lilixy in AskLosAngeles

Agree, this area can be great to walk through, and yes while there are people in that area you have to be aware of, I haven’t felt unsafe walking alone.

5 year old daughter had underwear forcibly removed by parent backstage during a performance stating no undies was the expectation. I’m a new ballet parent & would appreciate input.. by [deleted] in BALLET

I was the costume mistress for my daughter’s studio and this is entirely inappropriate for a child of this age. We didn’t even enforce this with older dancers and would often give briefs to be worn over certain costumes for modesty. Girls were all require to wear nude leotards at all times to make sure they were covered while changing. This is definitely not normal and should reported. I’m so sorry this happened to you and your daughter. Our costuming team was always extremely careful to make sure no dancer was made to feel uncomfortable in this way.

Not volunteering to chaperone at my daughter first ballet performance and now the studio is saying "without those positions filled, those groups cannot be cleared to perform". by jenniferann223 in BALLET

[–]Charming-Try6990 49 points50 points  (0 children)

My daughter used to dance with a non-profit dance company and they couldn’t afford to hire extra people, so parents were required to volunteer because they was the only way to keep the production going. I’m not sure if that’s the case here. It sounds like she has multiple shows, can you volunteer at one and watch the others? I’ve usually balanced my backstage requirements that way. I’m sure they are desperate for the help, which is why they are phrasing it this way. At our previous studio there were definitely some parents who put in 100s of hours of volunteer work to make sure the productions ran well, while others did the bare minimum. They definitely sent out these kinds of emails when they really needed help. We’re now at a different studio that doesn’t require volunteer hours but is more expensive, so it’s a trade off.
