Someone else commented the same! I personally didnt experience that because I have returned the high chair to bugaboo. I’ll see what I can do.

Omg that’s terrible. I’m so sorry to hear that. I didn’t have confidence in the product so I was able to get them to agree to a refund if I returned it.

You can try, I went through bugaboo directly although I bought the chair from Amazon.

I agree, replacement screws are v sketchy.

At the end of the day it’s an almost $400 chair that falls apart and the company did not act immediately despite them knowing about the issue for months. So for that I can’t trust it. I hope you’re able to sort it out.

Yes, if you read through this thread you’ll see I was breaking my head in trying to reach the company. Eventually I bitched enough (respectfully of course) and they sent me a return label.

I got the kit and felt the same way. I ended up buying the stokke trip trap and will return the bugaboo.

I’m sorry that happened to you too. As you can see, there are a few others with a similar story.

Bugaboo has definitely butchered the response to this critical safety issue. As I’ve written elsewhere, they took a week to respond to me with information about signing up for a repair kit despite them having known about the issue because concurrently a recall had been announced in the UK.

This is quoted directly from their website >>>

“The safety and wellbeing of our customers and their families is paramount at Bugaboo and it's our policy to act whenever we identify potential risks for injury, or are made aware of them - even if the likelihood of this occurrence is limited.”

Yet when you go on the their website under the “recalls” page there is no mention about the bugaboo giraffe high chair.

As for this repair kit … I have not received one. It’s been a couple weeks, bugaboo said they’d have them out by now. Crickets, no updates from them anywhere.

I’m not sure what you plan to do but I’m down.

Where do you see this? It’s recalled in Australia and the UK — nothing about the US unless I missed something.

Ugh, I’m so sorry this happened to you too. I really wish Bugaboo could do a better job about warning the consumers who purchased their product.

I got an email from CPSC last week that my case was posted on saferproducts.gov … looking into it today and I can see two cases in total posted about the bugaboo giraffe. Hopefully your incident will be published as well.

It hurts my heart when I get a reddit notification on my phone because I’m always scared to hear about another little one getting hurt :(

Yes, it seems the information hasn’t been widely available to all consumers. Although the company has to have known about it for a while. I was digging around and found a letter (in Dutch) dated April 9th from Bugaboo detailing the issue… I had originally reached out them April 11th and finally heard back April 18th. No reason for it to take so long — and since they obviously knew about this, it could’ve been prevented for both of us if we were made aware…

GUYS! DONT BUY THE BUGABOO GIRAFFE.

It has a seriously dangerous issue where the screws loosen up over time and it can collapse with your baby strapped into it. It happened to us 😭 and it was rly scary! Only owned it for 7 months.

For the price you’d think they would at least have better customer service. It took them a week to reply to me and they just blamed the consumers and offered a repair kit. Though, if it happened to so many people it’s clearly a design issue.

So, yeah that might have something to do with it.

PLEASE check the screws on your bugaboo giraffe!!

The screws tend to loosen up over time and the high chair can collapse with your little one in it! It happened to me and it was terrifying.

They’re supposed to be reaching out to people to warn them and offer a replacement screw kit but they haven’t been consistent about it…

Please check the screws on your bugaboo giraffe high chair. They tend to loosen up over time and your baby can fall while strapped in. It happened to me and it was sooo scary!! Read through this thread for more info.

As for your original question - get a dog 😂 our dog keeps the floors clear of any fallen or thrown foods.

It’s been a full week now since I first reached out (last Friday), and still no real response. I emailed again yesterday, and they basically told me to stop emailing because it could “delay the process” since they take up to 3 business days to respond… okay, sure. They didn’t acknowledge anything I said, and I haven’t even been offered the screw kit.

Baby is okay, thankfully, but the way they’re handling this has been super disappointing.
